Built in cabinetry would be best, it will also create storage under the seating. Who doesn't need more storage!

If you want a budget friendly way, I just did a banquette/nook in the corner of my kitchen. I have to do everything on a shoestring, and pretty much myself, LOL.

I used Ikea Expedit individual wall shelf/cubes as the bench seats. They are the perfect height for seating. I made a table with an antique Singer sewing machine base, and a piece of wood from Lowe's that I finished with molding around the edge. Info here on my Ideabook. If you want more information, just post here. I used 4 on the long side, 2 on the short side, but since you have a square you could measure what you need. They have storage underneath, you can use Ikea baskets, buy the door inserts from Ikea, or use the Martha Stewart fabric baskets from Lowe's, which is what I used.

No matter what table you get, square or round, you will need a pedestal base for people to squeeze in and not jam their legs. I had to make my own table because I couldn't find a pedestal table I liked new under $300, and I couldn't find any of the right size at second hand stores. . But what I did went with the style I wanted anyway.
