If they are honeybees, you can get much closer. If they're africanized, you probably shouldn't get much closer though :)

I'd think by now, most bees are in seasonal decline, esp annual species, and not feeding much. Honeybees are probably the most likely to still be feeding.

Looks like honeybees to me, though the abdomen seems longer than I'm used to.

We have honeybees feeding here all winter as long as we put something out for them. Sometimes they disappear for a few days when the weather is really, really cold, but they always come back once it warms up again. The ones I see here seem smaller than yours, but then there's different species of them and I am sure I haven't even seen all of the species found in OK.

Those are honey bees. Any time it gets above 50 F. they are likely to be out, cleaning the hive and looking for nectar. Yesterday was a perfect day for that. I was feeding mine.

Just for interest's sake: Africanized honey bees can get this far North, but they never survive the winter. They lack the clustering instinct which is required to survive freezing temperatures. When they do get this far North, however, you only have to be concerned if you get near their hive. When foraging they act like any other honey bee.
