rustic traditional bedroom transformation

I'm stuck! You guys helped me so much with my livingroom/kitchen now it's time for the master.

Trying to change our dark/crystal lamps/all black furniture bedroom into a bright rustic traditional style that I love.

I'm painting our furniture in behr swiss coffee with black knobs

I'm thinking...
-black rustic traditional light fixture (8ft ceiling)

-I have 2 arch frames going on either side of the bed and a rustic wood picture being made going the the middle (that's the green tape)

white curtains, white ruffle bedding and skirt, I re upholstered the headboard in this taupe color and HATE it should it be grey/beige? what's going to complement the off white and black furniture?... I feel like I'm not a big color fan so before i went all black and now I'm going all white...

I know rustic can start to look cheap and crafty real fast! PLEASE HELP me get that beautiful, cosy expensive look because right now I feel lost

will post pictures of the room in its lost current state ... and some of my inspiration photos in the comments.

thank you for your time and help!!!

    The feel of the room
    grey or white bedding?
    what color headboard?

Your second inspiration picture made me think you should try the arched frames over your headboard.

For rustic look, I would definitely use white linen bedding, and If you think the behr swiss coffee is too beige make your headboard gray otherwise for rustic I like beige more. An other option is to make a shiplap headboard! Above your bed you can use picture ledge or shelf instead of hanging the wall art so you can add more things beside your picture...

I like to put mirror behind those arch frames like your inspiration photos. Buy two lamps for your night stands in gray or white (glass or metal) or black for more contrast. add a sheepskin rug or a traditional rug. Throw pillow in pale colors or just neutrals with a knitted throw blanket for your bed. I like that black iron light as well! Add potted plant in your room with more wooden decoration or wickerwork!

ok I tried the arches above the bed instead i could add a cotton wreath? i seen this headboard and rug would they work/go with my ruffle bedding set ?

If you look at the details of your inspiration photos, you will see lots of texture. make sure to add that in your selections, its important in a neutral room. wreaths added to your arches would be pretty.

If you want to buy that headboard your style would be more modern french country or modern farmhouse. For rustic traditional I would prefer shiplap, iron, or no headboard.

I like the rug, but I see your carpet is beige I guess white would be nicer... you can look at the traditional rugs in neutral colors like pictures below, and buy a shipskin throw blanket instead!

Yes you can add wreath to your arch frames just like those inspiration photo. If you really love it do it. :)

I see your bed skirt is black, change it to ruffled white!

If you could find three arches you can make the headboard out of it. or buy 2 more to add on each side.

    @parox thanks again!

I guess my husband likes the comfy upholstered headboard so maybe we will just keep this one I upholstered for now in this taupe fabric and work with it with the arches. (I got another one to see how that would look) still on the search for cotton wreath. thoughts 2 or 3 arches above headboard?

my side tables are currently being painted and the black bedskirt is the old one. I will be getting all new bedding. I couldn't get the scalloped ruffle one that I love shipped to Canada to I found these options on house. thoughts?

the tape on the side wall is me getting ideas for a gallery wall.

I have attached a picture if my textured curtains and headboard

You can find nice bed skirt at wayfair.ca ,amazon.ca, bed bath and beyond. You can easily hide your headboard with two European pillow, so no need to change the headboard. I like the art gallery you can get more wooden frames...

If you need anything else message me. :)

    hello everyone!

side tables are painted and distressed just need to protect and get the new knobs and spray paint them black

still need to paint the tall boy and mount t.v.

gallery wall is coming along bit by bit

thinking about this bedding, headboard and bench? I like this rug but feel $250 for a rug to be covered up by the bed might be silly in our small room. but like the idea of the bench.

keep the arches if I get the new headboard? its higher so it will go up over 1/3 of them.

I guess this us turning out to be more of a mix of rustic traditional/French country/modern farmhouse... does what I'm imagining work together?

-i think the lamps have to go..
-still wauting on the knobs for side tables, bedding and chandelier.
-i seen these mirrors that caught my eye i will we keeping the arch one regardless (will find a spot sonewhere in the house

I agree there would be too much decor with the gallery wall and three arches above the bed. Do not hang gallery wall and don't put anything above that beautiful headboard. The headboard and chandelier will be the "stars" of the room. Note the heighth of the lamps in your most recent picture of inspiration room. They are just at the heighth of the headboard. Put some books under your current lamps so they do the same. You could even find some white/off white/beige hardback books at a thrift store to stack to the correct heighth. I am looking forward to seeing the new bedding!

thanks Kay!! i decluttered everything and started the gallery wall but i can always remove! i tried the lamp idea and the lamps i have just seem to chunky, perhaps i nred to get wooden ones or just smaller lamp shades

Hi again, very nice headboard and bench... Are you changing your style? I think for gallery you have to hang the frames closer to each other... Did you find bed skirt?

    thank you for more ideas!
i guess im still trying to figure out what to call my style. maybe more modern farmhouse with traditional touches...i guess? i was told by the woman designer who helped pick out all our new lightening that the lights were traditional meets farmhouse style....if you look at my livingroom pictures i do like cosy feeling, distressed furniture, antiques, wrought iron, wood signs... i just have trouble making it all look designed instead off a bunch of mish mashed things ...

for the room i have this bedspread on the way i hope to act as a bedskirt.

the picture wall i envisioned somthung like this. its a work in progress i have the middle picture being made now ... but do you think i should foget this idea put a longer/bigger signed that i put over the bed as a example and the arched mirror beside the bed? or would that look stange and our of place?

i just loved the grand and cosy look of headboard and the distressed legs in the bench. the side tables are slightly distressed (still waiting on antique knobs to come in)

I think you can use your lamps if you change your lamp shades and get white or light gray shades. Also to give it a farmhouse look you can wrap the crystal base with jute thread. I also think you need a bed skirt for sure! You can add nice wood work, wall art or mirror above your bed. I add some items to your ideabook.

thanks again!!! i will try the raised book idea that @kay mentioned again along with the jute/white lamp shades! what do you think about a wood sign like this above the bed? and should i forget the gallery wall and just hang the arch mirror to the side of the bed? or would it look lonely by itself? I could include it in the middle of the gallery wall instead of the main window pain picture in my inspiration photo?

I like having art work above your bed, but first install your chandelier, sometimes when you have a nice chandelier above your bed you dont need an art above your headboard as Kay said. I think mirror in the middle of the wall gallery would be nice.
