I like the idea and orientation of your tacky boot rack...so why not get something with a back that serves as a sort of room divider? You could put a cushion on top and have a seat for taking off shoes...Obviously you'll want the back to be finished.

Also, light fixtures are very easy to replace. Get one you love and put it up. Keep the existing to put back when you move out.

Both of these things won't break the bank and you simply take them with you when you move...

I assume you'll be patching the walls? Ask the landlord for the paint so that you can match it.

You can hang a picture...just don't have a thick frame...it will be fine as your door can only go as far as the doorknob allows. If you don't want to have a picture, these are fun and work well...

I like the tree as you could add Command hooks (from 3M) to the branches here and there for your keys and scarves and hats....

Penny's ideas are bang on. I love the tree! That kind of mural would liven up your wall. I'm challenged by my entry as well, Angel. Totally understand your frustration.

The sticker mural is a great idea, we wish to buy this house in the long run so my landlord allows me to do what I want to my liking with most of the house but theres some things I cant fo yet, for instance I want this wall cut in half then have an island on the other side of it in my kitchen, but for now all I can do is cosmetic work.

I love Penny's ideas, too. If you watch Craigslist, you might be able to find a storage unit similar to what she's shown, for very little $. You could easily paint it, including the back if needed. Ikea has low cost units like that, too.

A room divider is a good idea, and a seat/boot/shoe rack. Of course you need to carve out additional space from the LR, just in case someone is removing their shoes and someone is entering.
