You could go for a strictly blue and white room or add touches of other colours to accent. But the best way to add light is via lamps.

Once you've added lighting, consider art and coordinating print fabric for pillows, throw, etc, with white in them. I'd love a reading chair in that nook. So many fabric choices out there.

Definitely not too dark. Layered white bedding, medium wood-toned bedside tables, interesting lamps and artwork. Repeat the metal of the lantern throughout the room. Maybe two comfortable chairs at the window.

I don’t think it’s too dark. I like it. Once you add some nightstands with lamps and a chair or two by the window (with lamps), a few pieces of art...it will look moody and cozy.

The color is nice! What your room needs is really great bedding. It can be all white or linen colored. New carpet in a light linen would help, too.

Depends on your budget, but those nightstands are great. Some dreamy art over the bed, as suggested, would look wonderful. Or move the art you have by the window over the bed.

Consider an upholstered chaise and lamp over by the window for reading. (Or a window bench with a cushion. That space is just perfect for reading or sitting. Maybe a print throw over the bottom of the bed and some pillows in a blue and cream shams would bring it all together.

Your overhead light is not helping. The prisms are casting strage light and shadows, but not enough light. A owl style overhead light woul bounce light off the white ceiling, LED bulbs in soft white will help. I agree with others you sould add lamps with light, not dark, shades, and possibly a mirror.

love the color. not too dark at all. I also like leelee's night stand choice. wood and the blue will look very nice. you need some new bedding, art, maybe a bench at the foot of the bed, a throw rug, new lighting.

instead of the heavy drapes, do something in a lighter material in white/blue, or ditch the drapes and try some cellulars or woven woods.

You just need to add more white to the room. Try some artwork with blue in it above the bed, some lamps on night stands that are white, thick white curtains, fluffy white pillows, a white chaise or white chairs in the corner, etc. That should make the room feel fuller, and complete.

looks nice lynn. you could find an inexpensive area rug, (6x8 size, maybe larger) to put under the bottom 1/3 portion of the bed and have it cover that walking area. maybe a bench on that at the foot of the bed in a blue velvet?

It looks great and now you have great basis to build on. I like the blue bench. The rug would be better where you step out of bed or as Beth suggested a rug on your carpet (with rig to rug pad) under bed and extending down to about 18-24” beyond that bench. Once you get art on walls and lamps it will be divine. Depending on how you use the room a pair of chairs in the bay area with table and lamp will bring more interest as well. I think a chaise would probably be too much for the space.

I wouldn’t do another blue. Stay neutral. Either gray and whites or white on white. Keep it light.
