Dull area on quartz countertop

Helll,

I just noticed a weird dull area on my countertop. see the photos below. It doesn’t feel different but looks like something rubed the luster off.

I have no idea how this happened. had anyone seen anything like this before and how to fix?

Did you have a hot pot sitting there without a trivet?

From LG Viatera's Care and Maintenance:
- Viatera® can be damaged by excessive heat which causes the polyester binder to contract, leaving the surface exposed to heat feeling rough to touch and/or discolored. Avoid possible problems by using a trivet between the countertop and any hot pan or heat source.

Oh my goodness. Just figured it out. That is where my wife was sitting with her laptop. Really? Heat from a laptop could do this?! Any thoughts on a fix?

Sorry that happened to you. I've read other similar stories on here over the last few years. As far as I know every quartz warranty excludes thermal shock and heat damage. Call your fabricator to see if they can help in any way.

A fabricator should be able to do a re-polishing. It may be necessary to polish an area quite a bit larger than that dull spot to make it blend in.
