All wall colors are affected by natural and artificial light and the direction it comes from, furniture finishes--whether they are warm or cool--floor colors, etc. It might be worthwhile getting a color expert to advise you on choices after he or she sees your house, current furnishings, and flooring. Here are a couple articles on choosing whites--not as easy as it seems. (Ask me how I know.)

On site, trial and error. Every color is affected by light, abundance or lack of it, and exposure/direction from which that light comes, and even the greenery outside the window. Two whites are not necessary btw. You can simply change SHEEN. Matte or flat on walls, satin on trim . Flat on ceiling. That is actually a more modern look. Ben Moore decorator white on ceilings is a pretty fail safe selection. Try "snofall" on walls with sheen change. Either way...you must test on site: )

we used decorator white from Benjamin Moore as well on walls and ceilings. We have grey tile. For doors trims and bathrooms used Benjamin Moore kitchen and bath : white. For the exterior we chose China White from Benjamin Moore. We have warm tones outside, terracotta roof and porch tile, as well as iron and bronze trim windows. the China white works well outside because it seems to have some warm undertones. However it didn't look good against white tiles in our bath as we thought! good luck. We had to repaint the bathrooms ... test out some samples!

We used White from Benjamin Moore (yes it's actually just called white). We thought it was a nice color that didn't seem to read too blue, yellow, etc. in the house. I almost did Super White by Benjamin Moore. It read a bit greyer/bluer in our house than the White. I thought both were very nice options - I ultimately chose the White since I love how it looks in my mom's house which is very modern. I also have modern tastes. We used the same white with different sheens as Jan suggested. We used a matte on the walls, I honestly can't remember the sheen for the ceiling and a semi-gloss on the trim.
