What branches to trim?

Help! My first tree is looking like its in its ugly teenager years. And I know pruning it will help it. What branches should I take off exactly?? I don’t want it getting any higher being there’s no more light source.

LOL!! A request for psychic pruning advice!!

There is no way one can make any meaningful suggestions without seeing the tree :-) Please post some photos.

The type, species, variety, or kind of tree would be helpful (maple or peach?), though talking someone thru proper pruning has drawbacks. Pruning videos can be more demonstrative.....if that's the proper word ;-)
