Entryway Rug Size

I need some help with choosing the right size rug for my entryway. I have attached a photo below of mine for reference. It is sort of a longer hallway rather than wider so I'm wondering if a runner would look best or going with a 5x8 rug which would fit the size of the hallway fine. I just have a small rug there now for the time being but of course am planning to replace it with something from Pottery Barn. I have a few rugs in mind but would like to know what size is best! Thank you all!

I would probably do a wider rug. I would like to see something centered on your table. Maybe a mirror or art above the table?

It depends on where the hallway goes, and what you see in the other rooms. A longer runner could help connect color schemes. But I favor a wider rug.

I agree, I am also leaning towards wider. I am planning to buy a large mirror to place over the entry table as well. I just moved into my new home so I am decorating and getting everything set up. There is no other furniture in the dining room and the formal living room yet.
