Wow there is a lot going on here. I know things can get out of hand when you have small children. So hear me out.

You can create a simple wooden open divider to screen off either side as you enter - the kitchen side, or the living side. The slats can be as close together or as far apart as you wish. When viewed from any angle they act as a visual block when done vertically as shown.

I'm all for mix and match seating but you really need to find all matching chairs. If cost is an issue, check out IKEA. Take a look at moving that stand by the front door. I know its for keys etc but look at a key rack or floating shelving, again think IKEA.

Since you're home is total open concept - think less is more. The less you have on your counters the better. You have plenty of space above the window to add a floating shelf to store decorative but seldom used kitchen bowls, pitchers, etc. which will free up cabinet storage. A simple soft valance underneath the shelf will add some much needed softness in your space.

Thank you so much for your great advice, Karen! I really like the open wooden divider idea.
We’ve also rearranged the living room area by placing a stool and sofa at where the dining table is and moved the dining table to the other side so we will have a space for our guests to sit at their entrance. We also updated our shoe cabinet with an area rug. Please let me know what you think about this.

That looks so much better! I'd love to see a couple more pictures of how you rearranged.
