You have some nice stuff. It is a little hard to see however with the clutter. Try posting a sketch of the room with measurements and sizes of furn for more ideas. What do you use or are you planning to use this room for?

Maybe try back to back sofas with couch table between. blue chair on either end of smaller gray couch on one side and desk on wall at one end and console or table on other end. Hard to tell how everything will fit without floor plan though.

when there is this much visual clutter (easy to do with a big space), the best thing to do is empty the space. take everything that is not a large piece of furniture out of the room (dog can stay, good dog, looks like my parent's dog actually). Then start blocking in the room. Two suggestions: The console against the wall, with the Eiffel Tower on the lower shelf? put it against the back of one of the couches. The brass/gold/glass coffee table? I think it floats awkwardly in the space, put it between, and slightly behind, the blue chairs. You have a lot of big mid century esque pieces here: chairs, couch, table, and a lot of smaller things like lamps (or lamp shades) and decorative items that don't exactly work with the mid century stuff. It's easier to swap out the small stuff.

SO:

1. Take EVERYTHING but furniture and rugs into another room and then work on a floor plan for furniture. Focus on comfort, flow, and usefulness in terms of the space. Where do you want to be looking? How does it feel to sit somewhere? Is it cozy or do you feel in the middle of everything?

2: Shop your own house. First take the things that go best in that room (your faves or best style wise) from the pile you made of stuff you removed and put them in one by one. Don't like a lamp in that room? Can you get a new shade for it? Put it in another room? Swap it out for a different light you own or replace and sell/etc? Then look at the rest and make up your mind piece by piece. Does it belong in there? Is there a space that just seems a "natural fit" for it? Try things on. Put pillows and lamps/decor in multiple places before you decide.

3. Add storage. You have a lot of open storage and a lot of clutter. What could you add to hide some of it in a functional way?

Lots of potential here: big space, good pieces, just needs a bit of focus and cohesiveness.

Definitely move the table that is currently between the couch and the wall out and put the sectional against the wall. Since that table doesn't fill the space it leaves an awkward gap/feeling there. I'd also play with swapping the placement of the rugs. The greyer one seems to go better with the blue chairs and round glass/brass table than the round rug. I might personally look at moving the round rug to another room altogether and getting another rectangular rug or just using one. If neither of those things work, maybe put the round rug more underneath the two blue chairs instead of out in the middle of the room.

lol! that was fast :) great start, what if you put the long end of the couch flush against the wall and moved a console style table like the one you had behind it to the chaise end, then put a lamp on top of that instead of the tall floor lamp? then try either the red rug there, or maybe simply turning the rug you have there now 90 degrees so that it doesn't eat the entire floor space?

Then maybe the short couch where it was before and either the two chairs with a coffee table between them against the back of it or a console table (probably the latter cause no one wants to stare at a big blank wall and face away from the action)?

I figured that you didn't empty the room in 2 minutes flat, haha, was just a joke! Seriously though, I'd consider emptying it again (minus furniture) and starting over. Hi R2D2!

i do! i may or may not own a floral storm trooper pillow .... (i do - it's in our star wars tiki-room-in-the-making sunroom). But generally speaking, it just needs more flow, more cohesiveness, and a little editing in your space. Use the Force, reach out with your feelings.... lol. P.s. I'm going to reupholster this chair.
