I will be using IKEA Bodbyn which is a similat color if I ever get around to doing this kitchen. Pental Misterio looks nice with it and the Equipe subways in Blanco match that. The Caesarstone Frosty Carrina also works but creamier. IKEA has great prices on the quartz when they have their sales.

We wound up choosing Cashmere Carrara which is a creamier white to pair with the off white Grimslov, but it has not been installed yet. Frosty Carrina is also a creamier white so should pair well - I had heard in another forum that it works well, but would have to dig to find the post. Frosty Carrina is more solid when you see a whole slab, but we wanted a little more grain marking so went with Cashmere Carrara. We also had looked at Pental Misterio but it was too expensive to get as it was not in stock with the company our contractor uses.

Thank you both for the comments. I had not heard of or seen Pental Misterio. I went and found it...I loved it... but above my price point for this project. I am going to look at Frosty Carrina today. I did find MSI Shell White...which I think looks good...and it's in my price range. This design dilemma really was a shock to me....cause the cabinets look white to me in this project....it's not till I put quartz samples next to cabinets does the off white/creamy color stands out. This is a condo I am renovating.

Definitely get samples of the quartz to bring home to see in natural light, or even buy a single Grimslov door to bring to hold side by side with the quartz. We did this and found it helpful.

I think this 2nd picture is worth posting. In one of these pics ( this one I think) I had the flash on my cell phone. The countertop looks darker, but it's still a keeper for me.

Thank you both. My neighbor did Cashmere Carrara with Grimslov.. I will try to post a photo ..her kitchen is finished. The slab that was installed was whiter and less creamy then the one she saw at fabricator. She loves her kitchen regardless. I think the lighting is a big factor. I am going to look at more slabs today and Monday morning. Then hopefully place the order. I am leaning towards MSI Shell White. Will look at Carrera Mist today.

Please make sure the MSI uses Breton technology and not the Chinese.

Mary, thank you for posting those photos! Very helpful and I'm comfortable with our quartz choice. Let us know what you decide for your own kitchen, but I'm sure it will be beautiful whatever you decide.

JY-my neighbors kitchen is beautiful ... but the cabinets are a little yellower looking then in the photos I posted here. Is there another way I can send you photos? She is happy with it but was shocked how different countertop looked in her place then when she looked at the slab. The lighting is a big factor.

I went with the Shell White. I put in order today. It has a creamy back ground with a subtle white vein. I think it will work with the white on white look I am going for. I probably will do white/creamy subway tile. That's my next project. I read about and inquired about the Breton technology quartz. I am on Long Island..in New York ..the MSI show room said only 6 of their MSI quartz colors are Breton technology. Warranty the same for all colors. Shell White and Carrera Mist not Breton. I really really liked the Carrera Mist but decided on the Shell White. I got many estimates and prices for the same quartz varied greatly. I would definitely shop around if you have a certain budget. This is a kitchen in a condo I purchased over the summer....there's a chance I will be flipping it...so I wanted to stay within my budget.

I used the Frosty Carina with an Ikea install and it looked fabulous!

Mary- Shell White is very pretty. I don't recall seeing that one in the showroom, but it looks great on the MSI website. I went way over my budget with this project so I know what you mean. Good luck.

They are measuring Thursday.... so I could switch till then... only a bit more $. I probs will stay with Shell White..... but Mist is awesome. I will keep everyone posted. I fell in love with the IKEA cabinets ..for the price ... there was nothing close to them. But the countertop was a def design dilemma... I should have posted to Houzz sooner. It really helped!

Mary - My installers are here working as I'm writing this ( yes- on NYE !) I want to go grab a picture so you can see. My counters will be at least a week but they are putting in my Bodbyn doors right now!

Thank you! What are your thoughts on a backsplash? I'm leaning towards a medium to dark gray glass or ceramic subway tile. My floor is a medium brown vinyl plank. As much as I wanted to tie in the floor somehow, I just don't think it's going to happen. I can live with that.

Mary Dee - thanks for the heads up... I think we will be ok, as you mentioned lighting is a big part of it. I've seen elsewhere a recommendation from an Ikea kitchen designer to use LED lighting with Grimslov if you want to white out the off whiteness of the cabinets. Our renovation includes an open floor plan with new recessed LED lighting so it's very bright and does white out colors. We had chosen Benjamin Moore's bilboa mist paint and it's unfortunately looking much whiter than I wanted on the walls. I think any difference in white tones may be washed out.

Brenda-I am leaning towards subway tile...….maybe in glass..not sure yet. Have to go walk my feet off a bit. I love some of the mosaics...but I am trying to stay with a clean lines white on white look. I am psyched about finally figuring out the quartz. There was lots I liked from Caesarstone and Silestone but they were out of my budget.

Regarding using LED lighting to whiten up your cabs, it's not just LED you want, but something on the cooler temp side. There are LED lights that are 2700K, and they mimic the look of a warm white incandescent. If you want a brighter look, get LEDs that are at least 3000k. Myself, I was aiming for 3500k to brighten my Snowfall White cabs, but I couldn't find ones that fit the rest of my criteria, so I stuck with 3000k (for now). They are fine, but my cabs still look just a touch creamier than I want. If you want a super bright and cool light, you can go up to 5000k (or more?), but that is considered "daylight," and the light is fairly blue. I tried those, and they were too much for me. There's a lot to play with where lighting is concerned. It can be overwhelming, as you also have to take size/type of bulb, lumens, and CRI into account, but it's nice to have options.

They measured/templated for my counter tops on Thursday. For me not to have a seam I have to raise this wall 4 inches. Anybody have experience with how seams look. Since I am going with MSI Shell White...seams could be more visible (in lighter colors with less pattern) then darker colors with lots of pattern in it. Any thoughts on this.

I luv how it turned out! I wanted this white on white look. Back splash that worked also not easy to find ... its a 4 by 12 tile from Lowes in white that has a wave in it. I thought I wanted glass or maybe a-little/slight color but this was the best. Also its hard to match up whites well but the tile has texture + MSI Shell White Quartz counter tops.. is a creamyish back ground with a small white vein in it .. very subtle... but it def was the best ... so many other quartz samples were to white agaisnt the more off white Grimslov. I got countertops at a Quartz fabricator not at IKEA. IKEA Caesarstone much more $$$ Google MSI quartz see a dealer/ fabricator by you. I walked my feet off ..but LUV IT!!!
