It depends on if you want to deal with custom length curtains. My rods were installed just under the molding and then I realized the walls were taller than 8'. I used another panel to add a deep hem with a bias strip to set it off. Do you draw those curtains? Does the rod sag? It looks like a long unsupported span for the weight of that much fabric.

These are very heavy canvas type curtains from Ikea they don't sag when drawn. I will need them to shut for privacy. I don't like the white rod, but not sure what color. If I leave the rod there, the white is probably the best color. I also wondered if white sheers might be enough privacy... 108" will work if I raise the rod to just below the ceiling.

You do NOT have nearly enough fullness to use those as privacy. They are not even enough fullness to be stationary panels. Sheers will require a lot of fullness to look good when closed too. Get a metal rod, with support, and a separate treatment/shade for privacy. Or.....spend the $$$ for custom sheers to draw closed. .......and have translucent privacy........and add to the stationary panels.

Hi Jan, I agree, those came with the house. 90% of the time they are open, What are your thoughts on the location of rod? Raise to just below ceiling? It would be about 6" higher. I know at the current location, 95" works. My (non) view.. house is below street level..

Roller blinds maybe, or would it look too bare without anything?

The rod should be at least 2" above the top of the window or molding, can be under the ceiling or anywhere in between. So it's fine there if you wanted to leave it there.

But yeah, they need to be a lot fuller for a window that wide, otherwise they look really skimpy.

All the way to ceiling and at least 1 1/2 to double width on each side depending on width of window. This will require a support as well.

That window looks pretty wide. I'd say double to triple width each side. 1 1/2 is not enough.

Shades or blinds are fine, too.

Thanks for all the advice! I ended up getting 8 panels, and after adding rings and hooks, I had to raise the bar a bit anyhow! Plenty of fullness, and happy with the results. Pictured closed but not evened out! Sorry for the dark pics, dreary day!

To be honest I love how open it is over the table and now with that gorgeous art...could you just have pot lights/ can lights over table? Something to think about.

It's been hard since I'll have to move the fixture over to center, and there is a vent which is a real eyesore and close to center! It is a low ceiling, so pot lights may work.

I think it is the perfect solution for you!:) sleek and modern
