    Dawn's Early Light

    Deep Blue Sea

    Dark Star, beginning of August

    Diamonds are Forever

I'm there with ya, sunnywood! Hoping for better things this year. We'll see if my area's abundance of rain, (50 inches since July 21) was GOOD for the hostas, or NOT so good.

Happy New Year! Health and happiness and wonderful weather!

Karin, I absolutely love Delta Dawn late in the year. I pitched mine because of nems, looked terrible when it should have looked its best.

Steve , I had terrible nems in my Joyride last year. Pulled a lot of leaves and none this year.

Luckily I had no problems with nems so far. Delta Dawn has been in the ground in 2017 and it was ugly. I put it back in a pot and into a sunnier place and it seems to like it.

DeepBlueSea and Dawn’sEarlyLight are the ones who have jumped to the top of my wish list...

P.S. not intended to be depressing..I thought these were funny..Dawn's Early Light is my favorite..

New for me . Thanks to the Alphabet , I had to get one. ;)

Dancing Queen in the front. I can't wait until it matures.

Dream Queen ( at least that is whats on the tag)

Heaved on me last winter. I thought it was a goner, planted back in the ground and it gave me more eyes later on in the summer.

Happy New Year Everyone! What delightful "D's". Added a few onto my wish list. Here are a couple pictures of my D hostas

Dancing Queen with a little hitchhiker

    Dark Shadows, new this year

Dream Weaver, very slow to grow, maybe I should plant it in a sunnier spot.

Dust Devil, also new this year. So far I love it.

I love seeing progression photos! Thanks Saija and peren.all!

Dawn's Early Light looks great whether young and more mature, Saija, Sherry, Steve, Karin and sandyslopes!

Steve, I love that shot of Deep Blue Sea in the pip's stage. It's a good size too! Yours is great too mbug!

Beautiful Dream Queen mbug. So sad the deer got to it. Dreamy Dream Queen old_dirt.

Hope you all have a good 2019!

Lost the Dream Queen I once had. I am trying again.

This is Dream Weaver. I am hoping this one does well.

    Dark Star (early June)

    end of June

    July

    August

Bottom line is that this hosta looks good for a very long time. Can't say that about a lot of hosta.

It has been a long time since I last tried to get on the site and no I never Died but last time I tried Downloading pictures it just wouldn't let me participate. Drives me crazy not to share and I never bought one hosta last season as I just have no more room. Notice the capital D incase it Doesn't allow me to send a picture. Happy New year to all the oldies and the newbies. This is a wonderful site to get hooked on

Will see if it works for me now.. fingers crossed

If we see your picture, does that mean you will return with more photos? Hope so. Would love to see more of your hostas and garden again.

Nice progression pics of Dark Star, NHL. It's such a great plant, that they don't really look like progression shots. While most of my hosta looked terrible last year, this one looked perfect all season.

NHL- what Steve said! I’ve had my eye on Dark Star for a while. This clinches it.

Lots of beauties though... and we’re only on the 4th letter of the alphabet!

I bought Dancing Queen late last summer. I have high hopes!

Dark Star had amazing fall colours. Maybe it was the heat in summer that made a lot of my hosta so colourful...

Daybreak really stands amongst the others.

Again they are all under green shading which affects the colour.

Dino has huge leaves, really looking forward to this one maturing.

Dream Queen has been in my collection for more years than I remember.

Slow growing but still getting better in my opinion.

    Here unfurling in early May.

Dorset Clown had some nice leaves this year.

Danica Poul. the leaves were starting to green up as I took this shot.

    Déjà Blu

I read somewhere (Zilis?) that Deja Blu has a narrow white margin. So far none of the photos I've seen have this margin...comments?

    John C

    Popmama,

I got my DancingQueen last summer as well so hopefully next year we have some great comparison shots!

I purchased my Dancing Queen last year too. I hope to join you outsteelers and popmama! I missed taking a photo of it this year. It's still small.

That Dino does have huge leaves, Dave! Impressive!

I lost my first Dream Queen. Now I have Dream Weaver which is similar. I don't mind if it's slow as long as it keeps on growing! You have a nice one Dave.

I have Dancing Queen coming in spring. Now if I can get that new bed dug I can also plant DQ, Deja Blue, Diana Remembered... Dark Star & Dawn's Early Light are definite wants!

John C - for Deja Blu, the lightning bolt appears later in the summer for me - between the margin and centre. This is a very pretty, small Hosta that is about the same size & shape as Heuchera Caramel and has only a very subtle lightning bolt in shade. The effect may be better in sun, but then the blue would likely be green...

John C, I've never seen a white line on my Deja Blu, and I've had it for a long time. But it's in a lot of shade so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

    Designer Genes

Designer Genes looks very...languid to me :)

Does it look less languid in the picture below, taken earlier the next day?

Yep less “Marilyn Monroe” more Joan Crawford! Pretty both ways but very different vibe :)

I would like to know if this happens to some of you. When I see the Dancing Queen hosta, I start singing the song from Abba- Dancing Queen.... It's stuck in my head lol.

    Ooh
    You can dance
    You can jive
Having the time of your life
    Ooh, see that girl
    Watch that scene
    Dig in the dancing queen

There, if it wasn't it's there now

    Happy Friday!!

Shadow, of course! I’m betting that’s why this hosta has its name.

Glad to see you back Donna and with a flourish! I finally have Dancing Queen coming in the spring!

Caught the flu, Laurie, and ended up in the hospital for 8 days!!! And I had a flu shot. Go figure.

So glad to hear that you are back home and on the mend Donna!

Oh no Donna! That must have been such a bad flu to keep you in for 8 days. You are probably not feeling 100% yet but thank goodness you are back home and back in the alphabet!
