Is this Salix purpurea 'Nana'?

Is your ground frozen? If not cut the branches into lengths a couple of feet long, push the rods a foot into the soil and leave them be. No need to score or add hormone. Make sure the soil doesn't dry out.

I'd not bother with the 2 inch diameter ones. I'd just use the thinner rods.

If the ground is frozen stick them into pots.

the ground hasn’t frozen yet even though cold weather as we have had a lot of rain. Can I keep the cut willow branches out for a couple of days before planting Do you think?

I don't think leaving them out will hurt them. But since it's so easy to just shove them into the ground I wonder why?

Btw Nana isn't the complete name of a species or cultivar of willow. I think you probably have Salix purpurea 'Nana'

Thanks again. I have let them grow for 5 years and have a lot of branches and sadly wont be able to get to it until this weekend.
