Hi all! I've had a moderately fruitful first year of balcony gardening in containers: purple basil, thai basil, parsley and tomatoes. I'm not new to container gardening in south Florida, and I am new to balcony and new to thrips.

I have two 10 gallon plastic pots with a thrips infestation. (Yes, I failed to prevent and then control.) Once I harvest the last of my patio tomatoes I'll be ready to pull and throw out the basil and tomato plants from both.

I've found plenty of information online about treating for thrips. What I'm not clear about is the risk of a new infestation because of any pupae in the soil.

1. Do I need to get rid of the soil and start fresh for winter planting?
2. Can I safely repot the parsley by itself in a new pot after pruning back and treating for thrips?
