Compost is remarkable stuff. I've seen schemes to collect fluids from the bottom of a compost bin, but not so practical for our large pile-on-the-ground type of setup. Nice to have another fairly simple way to process and utilize it.

Was reminded that January is when a lot of cities hold composting and other gardening related training. For example, Plano's Master Composter training begins on January 24th and is open to non-residents. A good time to check on what may be offered in your area.

It’s nice to have options. One challenge using this method would be making sure to keep the container tightly closed so mosquitos can not lay eggs on it. I also think that whatever material is left over could be added to the soil or the compost pile and should decompose faster. I need to start looking for a suitable container. A regular pot won’t be big enough for the amount of waste in my garden.
