You're probably missing all the color. I would exchange the mirror for a great piece of art to add color and interest. What's opposite the mirror? Might be another location for more art. I'm not a fan of table runners; they fall into the same category as granny style doilies, IMO. Search the box above under Photos for the term "centerpiece." Tall ones usually have to be removed from the table so guests can see each other. Something short, long and colorful would work. You might try a tall plant in the corner left of the French doors. You don't appear to have room for a rug since it would need to be 36-42" larger than the table top on every side. You could try a linear chandy for a new and more blingy look. Your ceiling angle will need to be taken into consideration, as the light should be no more than 36" above the table.

Your pop of color fizzled. Things I may add to bring color into the space are wall Art, A colorful bowl, candles, glassware something on the sideboard and an area carpet and adding a colortul centerpiece.

Other ways include window treatments and upholstry.

Agree with deco here that a linear chandelier would both compliment your space (aligning with the table shape) and update it a bit to a more transitional feel. The one other thing that jumps out to me is that your patio doors don't have any window covering at all. Even a million-dollar dining room view needs a great frame--and some elegant drapery hung high and wide on your window wall would help that whole end of the room look more fleshed out.

Also, I always like a tall, lush plant in a dining room - ficus lyrata or similar. Green adds such a bold but always-appropriate additional dimension to bring the room to life. Cheers!

Pretty room. Fresh flowers in a vase. New curtains with some color or new artwork to replace the candle sconces (they are a bit small for the space).

I agree with the other houzzers that you are more than likely missing the color your holiday decor provided. What color did you decorate with? If it was traditional colors then perhaps some red accents would be worth a try. How about switching the mirror for a colorful canvas with those color/s? See if it helps and go from there.
