Completed button request

last modified: 7 years ago

Houzz staff,
How about incorporating a completed button to design dillema forums.Somehow it will show on design dillema scroll screen a solution has been found.
Or make the completed post re- list in another category & remove it from current design dillema list.
This would also help Houzzers to search completed to see what worked. It will also help commenters to focus helping current dillema faster.
Curious what other Houzzers think. Or other ideas.

I have no issue with the off topic megathreads. I just scroll over them, and let the participants continue their chat. No one is getting hurt, after all...

It's not a problem nor complaint.

There's always room for improvement or making something better :)

artistsharanova - I didn't mean my comment as a criticism of your suggestion, though I think it might be difficult to implement. Who decides whether a dilemma has been answered? The OP? Some commenter? Or, heaven forbid, our illustrious moderators? Still, it happens on other problem-solving threads so it might be worth exploring.

I do feel, though, that there should be room for the "chat threads." Houzz is big enough to accommodate them, and if people want to kibbutz with each other on-line, well, why not?

I agree - what does complete mean?

    If No-Comments-After-10Days

    Then Mark-Complete

    Else

    Leave-Open

    Endif.

Why doesn’t Houzz date the original post? That would solve the problem.

They do date the original post.

    Good points above.

The reason I brought this up, because I see several posts where someone took their time to answer the question on an ancient post, to get a response (completed project) problem solved, or no response & others start answering until someone says old post.

That's valuable time of help that could of been used helping someone who really needs it currently. I understand it's dated, & regular Houzzers know how to navigate this, but to newcomers, it's often not obvious that the project has been completed.

So, I was thinking a button or something for OP to be able to select when their project is

    completed or

    Solved or

    Fixed

Now, we do have OP that disappear, because they just moved on, so for that

I propose after 90 days with no input from OP, it gets listed as completed. Which can be changed back to by OP if not.

Or have sub categories where posts are in quarterly months.

Looking for ideas for more options to Improving mobile phone scrolling finding experience to help others with current issues first.

Again, open to discussion about or other suggestions.

The threads that are still alive that have morphed into chats is fine by me. Maybe they can have option to keep those alive, but listed as ongoing.

I think overall Houzz is doing a good job, just brainstorming on how to make it even better.

I just ignore the ones with more than 25 replies and 1000s are just plain useless so at that stage if it is not completed too bad.

That's what I have been doing as well. After 50 replies, I scroll pass, too.

    If I ran the world:

    A colored dot or star.

SOMETHING!!! next to the screen name of the OP. Why? Who can tell if the op has gone MIA. Who can even remember the name to scroll/ see if they went MIA? Especially with these new HU 2737475 BLAH BLAH names.

Dilemmas grouped by age of original post:

    New today

    This week

    Un answered

    Over one month old

    over six months old

    over one year old

Why? If you're still looking or following, it will be in notifications when a comment is added. I only want to see the NEW ones, and I don't want to go four pages in to find them.

It is ABSURD that a single comment revives a six year old thread to page ONE.

A TOOL for 'POSTS I WANT TO FOLLOW":

I realize one can turn off notifications for those with no appeal. Reverse to those one wants to follow. Yes, you can go in history, where two thirds of the descriptive is lost

And........................ a bold feature that works. Couldn't get rid of it here. : ) Yes, ten clicks, for GODS SAKE

Improve thee APP. I don't even use it. I get in on the phone, with Safari.
