Place a short fence along the section where your neighbor's house is. You can then still see the lake view. Or can you install some sort of shades inside the frame of the structure? (Not sure what that is called)

I suggest you to put a temporary fence over there. That will help you in making privacy and when the plants you have planted grows, you can remove those fences. You can also use artificial plants to keep your privacy.

A decorative wood screening (lattice) or something gives you instant privacy and screening. You can always grow climbing vines on them to they're not too obtrusive.

This is a tough problem, but we would recommend some sort of shrub or bush to be placed between the house and pool. That way, your outlook to the lake is not blocked, but the neighbors window is not peering straight in and gives you some privacy. I believe that this is what this client of ours did to separate their yard from a nearby horse farm. Hope this helps!

we have a pool, our neighbors have a pool. we sit with our back to them, they do the same. we only skinny dip when we see they've gone out or after dark.

you don't need total privacy, you need a focal point to stop the eye between them and you. if they are peeping toms, nothing will stop them anyway.

I've seen people use the porous type of sun shade fabric, stretched and attached to the framing, along the side of their carports in order to get privacy.

How about using paint, you know, the kind used to paint storefront windows with seasonal scenes? For example, our local drugstore has a painting of Santa that I imagine they’ll soon remove, but you could pick just one color and remove it once the shrubs are grown.

IMO all weather curtains are the best answer once the shrubs grow they will permanately block your view just like a fence.
