The house we bought has a lot of good quality wood: wood beams, wood kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinet, window casing, door trim, doors and baseboards. It’s all in the same wood colour and because there is so much of it makes the house look really dated. So we have decided to replace or paint most of it but still keep some for the rustic feel in the house. So we are keeping the beams in the family room, the wood mantle on the fireplace and we are keeping part of the staircase railing but we are stuck on the window casing and doors. We are thinking it may be interesting to keep the window casing and the doors but change the baseboards and the door trim to white but we are worried it may give us the unfinished look vs rustic feel. Here are some pictures as it is currently.
