I'd like to keep the vanity wall as is (laid out like the Houzz photo below) but feel like the rest of the floor plan could use some help!

@kariyava thank you! The original designer's plan had a 33x54 shower, which I think could work, but the toilet room is quite small. Do you think we should keep the larger toilet size in the builder's plan AND make the shower larger, or do you think the designer's plan (top photo) could work?

I would expand both at the expense of the linen closet.

Ditto what Kariyava said. My shower is 48 X 60 inches with the water source on the long wall and it works well. The linen cabinet seems in the way.

Would you be better off with a sliding door closet 30 inches deep on the top closet space and then add that space to the walk in on the bottom?

Also, I would avoid a barn door and put in a regular door in the bedroom opening against the walk in closet with a pocket door on the walk in closet that slide to the right. I never close my pocket door on the walk in closet.

You can put a pocket door on the bathroom entry, but you could just leave an open door way. I have that and it works fine, especially since you have a toilet room.

33" isnt even 3' you could not spread your arms out in a shower that narrow even with elbows bent. I agree with the shower needing to be larger.
