What color are your cabinets and counters?

I am not a fan of stainless, so I understand if you aren't. I've always had white appliances and prefer them. Black can suck the light out of a space, but if you have good lighting that can be OK.

Completely depends on your kitchen. I like these black appliances. I don’t like a lot of black appliances. I think it’s very easy to go wrong but can look good in the right design. Typically very modern (like the sleek Miele ovens in the first picture) or a traditional statement piece like the ovens in the last two pictures.

We have black appliances! We wanted a modern, clean look and have black appliances to match our black cabinets. Pic below - we are at the tail end of our remodel, so please excuse the dust.

Pahlawan- I love your black appliances in that space!! Very unique and it works there!! Is that a Miele combi steam over a Miele full sized oven? We did the same in white to blend in with our pale warm gray cabinets.

@Heather N - thank you! It's the speed oven over XXL steam combi oven. We don't have any other ovens but it's good enough for our use in our small kitchen. I've actually been admiring pictures of your kitchen. I love what you did with the backsplash and tile over the hood - creative and looks amazing. Would have copied the idea if I saw it before our remodel. We actually have a similar run of oven, cooktop, sink and fridge in a line, albeit on a much smaller scale.

Pahlawan - thank you!! Where is your kitchen located?? It’s so modern and looks like a Manhattan apartment, but it looks like you have a backyard, so I’m curious! And do you have concrete counters and backsplash?

@Heather N - we are in the burbs of SF Bay Area- an old house hence small footprint. Our countertop and backsplash are quartz - Charcoal Soapstone by Silestone in suede finish -its just super dusty now. Will show more pics when its done :)

pahlawan - That's what I was guessing, had to be somewhere in California! :) would love to see pics!

    Black appliances can be stunning.

Be careful with the surface texture though; glossy shows every speck of dust, matte or textured surfaces are much more forgiving.

You will need double the lighting, or you will just have created a dim cave.

Would u mind to post a pic?

I’m also one who prefers black appliances. Had stainless in a previous kitchen- hated it, especially the fridge, in no time at all it was stained and showed dings, never had a black fridge that aged so poorly so quickly. I am in love with Jenn-air black glass, I have the counter depth refrigerator. I know it would sound difficult to keep clean but it’s by far the most low maintenance surface fridge I’ve ever had- as you can see in my pictures- it’s not a black hole but rather reflective. The AGA is also not a black hole, the reflective chrome accents really lighten it up. Dishwasher- second cheapest model of Bosch, love the towel bar.

Are your appliances black or black stainless?

Nothing of mine is black stainless - whenever I looked at black stainless on floor displays - I was turned off by the scratches- which show the stainless layer underneath. The Aga and Bosch dishwasher are black. The Jenn-air refrigerator is part of their Floating Black Glass product line - its black with a thick sheet of clear glass on top. I'm hardly a clean freak, and I love it as it practically never looks dirty, its quite reflective too. (In the third picture, I think you can see my dogs in the reflection lol)

I don't have a picture of my kitchen with me, but here is one of my customers who did the black stainless

I think the concerns about the scratches are valid, but we went black stainless because we wanted a softer black.
