I take it blue is not your thing? It's my favorite color but just not sure if the walls are too baby blue? Something more gray/blue might be better. May I ask what kind of cabinets are in the kitchen?

Is it all the blue paint? I'd say the biggest issue is the black distressed painted cabinets. They don't seem to work well at all with the style of the home.

Oddly enough, I kind of like those cabinets, is this a usual thing where you are? seems kind of eccentric. I kind of really dislike blue rooms unless they are bathrooms, (or pools), I don’t even like them in baby rooms where this colour would at least seem appropriate. Is there anything you DO like? The blue in the coffers is an interesting choice. I wonder what the room would look like with a warm colour on the walls more in line with the floor colour.

I really dislike that blue. I'd paint everything white, it would go much better with the kitchen. Not sure about the ceilings though...hopefully a designer will be along shortly.

Start by painting the walls white...see if you can get away with leaving the ceiling blue.

I dislike blue....I would paint the ceiling white and the walls a light color...As for the kitchen...black does not appeal to me, but a light grey or light brown may look fine.

I don't dislike blue per se, but that is a cold and unwelcoming color to my eyes.

    Yup I’d repaint it all.

I actually like the blue, although I would have a hard time living with with it. I would paint the walls white. I'm afraid most grays won't look good with the wood floors.

Paint the ceilings/all trim white. I like the walls with the cabinets and your sectional.

Add some art and throw pillows; you need to reposition the rug in the living room, pull it closer to the sectional.

I notice there are two chandeliers which match…replace the fan with the one over the kitchen table so you see both in the line of vision, front to back in the room.

The cabinet color is what I would concentrate on for inspiration.

Consider: cabinet color; a second accent color and a third neutral (kitchen tile).

The ceilings are overwhelming, I didn't even notice the kitchen cabinets as a result (I assume these are realtor photos and they have upped the contrast leading to the odd look of the cabinets?) My first floor has blue ceilings- a benjamin moore color called horizon. Most people can't even tell but I know. Compared to your ceilings it will be white...

Thanks everyone for the great comments and suggestions! Those are realtor photos, I'm thinking of purchasing this home. It was (supposedly) a showcase home for a subdivision in 2010. The whole scheme just looked off to me but I'm no decorator. Cool blues on the wall and ceiling with warm floors, counters and back splash plus black pin-stripped cabinets. I've got a lot to consider.
