Help! I've lived in this house for four years and still can't figure out a flowing furniture placement for this living room

If you don't watch TV in this room, I would make the view the focal point and ignore the fireplace as much as possible. Can you set up a sofa on the staircase side of the room facing the left-hand window (parallel to the window, at an angle to the stairs)? And a couple chairs on the fireplace side of the room facing the right-hand window? So the furniture makes a V opposite the V of the prow, with the point of the furniture V pointing toward the hallway entrance (I think this should leave plenty of room for a traffic path on the hallway/stair/fireplace side of the room).

I'm having trouble understanding the dimensions in your diagram. 14" to the line that marks the start of the prow window, or to the point of the prow? And is the other dimension only 5'4", or am I misreading? 5'4" only makes sense if the 14' is to the point of the prow, or the drawing isn't even close to proportional.

A photo of the space would help.

And what is opposite the prow? Can you take pix of all walls and furniture that you're working with?Are those coffee tables? How much space is around the FP? It is certainly not the focal point.

opposite the center of the prow is a hallway leading back to bedrooms.
I am getting new furniture.
Yes, the fireplace is a problem...it is placed at one end of this long room, making things a challenge.

I suggest you keep the FP area fairly clear for traffic, but you might have room for a pair of small scale chairs and a chess table or such.

I would put TV on the stairwell wall if you plan to watch here. Then add a curved sofa in that prow.

I have actually been shopping for a curved sofa (but have been afraid to commit). I also have two small swivel bucket chairs from a cruise ship ($10 each and in great shape!) that I'm thinking of having reupholstered. Actually, I would love to find slip covers....if you have any suggestions where. Thanks for your input! I will post photos of the finished project!

The sofa and bucket chairs will make a nice grouping there. What style are the chairs - MCM from the 70's?

Yes, I would say 70's or 80's. They have incredibly good bones so I have to do something with them.

They look like elephant hide right now! lol They'll make for comfy seating though. Pick your sofa and then work with that color to select fabric for these.
