Need exterior paint advice!

We are in the midst of a remodel and my husband just asked me to pick out exterior paint today (?!?!?) so he can start on the finished areas. I need expert help picking colors, please! I definitely want a bright front door-leaning towards yellow, but bright green or blue are on the table. Husband prefers red but our neighbors across the street just did that. I was thinking a darker greige with light trim? Any specific recommendations? Below I have pics of current exterior, addition section that is ready to paint, and architectural drawing of finished front.

Better pic of your roof color of roof is staying....

Roof is staying. I’ll go get one.

    Yes...roof color will help.

The bid says the color is dual black but I am not sure that’s what it exactly is-when they did the roof on the addition they tried to match rest of roof.

A black-ish roof means lots of color choices. Is there anything you know you don't want?

I do think it’s lighter than the dual black sample-more grey. Hard to get a good pic on this gloomy day! I’m pretty open re color-husband says no electric blue or neon or garish. I’d prefer not to be too light-white or near white.

Do you consider the current color to be too light?

Emmarene, yes, currently color is too light for my tastes.

I had looked at doing a color consultation with Maria Killam, but you know remodeling is-everything is more expensive than was budgeted and so it’s nice to save money where we can.

I like the colors in the house above!

I know your husband said no to a white for the main body so picture this door and house in a very light warm grey. I like the grey emmarene selected but I would do your house slightly lighter.

I think greys can be tricky. You don’t want them to be too cool / battleship grey - more of a greige. I wonder what Amazing Grey by SW would look like on your exterior. White trim and chartreuse(ish) door. Do you have time to paint samples on the house?

Thinkdesign, I love the idea of that combo. Ok go look for some pics of that color. And I can paint samples-he was all motivated Friday night that we were going to start this weekend but then got distracted

Made it to Sherwin Williams (hadn’t been there-typically buy Behr) and picked up a bunch of swatches and four quart samples-Amazing Gray, Dovetail, Poolhouse, and Mindful Gray.

I think off-white would go good.

    Grecian Ivory SW is great

You are magic! Is it possible to do that with the architectural drawings?

I don't have the skill of Celery Girl, but here is what I was able to do.

    Emmarene did good visualizing.

Here I am with some rendering

You guys are amazing. We painted around several of the addition windows with a sample color-now I just need some good daylight to see and photograph.
Three samples: SW Dovetail, Mindful Gray and Amazing Gray. Foggy morning so light isn’t great.

They all look good on my screen. Are the shakes remaining the color they are?
No the shakes are just primered.
It would be great to see it in a sunny day as well. And with the roof tone as that is an important element.

Are you planning to do one color, or two separate colors for the shake and siding?

This is a color palette I chose for a house (I work for a builder) the shake is SW7019 Gauntlet Gray, Siding is SW7017 Dorian Gray, trim is SW7014 Eider White and front door is SW7682 Bees Wax.

I’m leaning towards one color but husband likes two color idea.

Here’s a poor shot that shows roof color. I will try to get a sunny one, but I’m in Oregon and the law is that it’s only sunny during the day on work days.

I think I agree with you about one color.

Just picked up HGTV magazine during a four hour flight delay and like thisnlook a lot-paint is Grey Tweed by Glidden. Thoughts?

I like Dovetail and the Grey Tweed above looks good too.

I like the grey tweed. Not just ‘grey’. I like the hint of green to it. And the door color is nice as well!
