That’s pretty impressive! Are you using a laundromat? A prewash might help remove the worst of it in the beginning and let the detergent work better but understandable you can’t at a laundromat....If you are having to go to the laundromat try pre treating them at home... I use half hydrogen peroxide and half regular strength Dawn dishwashing soap in a spray bottle. Spray this on liberally, it’s great stain remover. Here I’ve seen people hang baseball clothes up on the car mat holders at the car wash, washing them. It works too. I’d consider throwing in a Tide white rescue pod also, in the washer that is. I definitely think the Tide you are using is the best beast for this job

I agree with Mimi re: a Tide rescue pod. I also agree that a pre-wash cycle with powder Tide with bleach detergent will get to a higher level of red clay removal. I would put the rescue pod (maybe even two) into the main wash cycle and let it soak for an hour if you can afford the time. I'll leave the peroxide/dawn advise to others as I don't have stains that bad here with decomposed granite for our dirt, it washes away fairly easy.

You got some grimy wash water there that I would want expelled with the pre-wash water.

I live in a condominium, the laundry rooms are a shared coin operated situation with one washer and dryer for each 4 plex.

I would like to be able to let things pre soak but that is just not an option. I have heard about the tide rescue pods before but haven't found them are the boosters the same thing?

*If* you were up to the extra steps and time, you could achieve sort of the same thing as a pre-wash by soaking the sports items in a bucket with TWB powder and warm water, swirl around with a handle of something, go away, do something else, swirl some more... Let the yuck soak out and get the benefit of the TWB wonders, then pour out the dirty water after some time, gently squeeze then bring that now empty bucket to your coin-op washer for a main wash with a dose of TWB powder. I understand the inconvenience having been an apt dwelling subject to coin-op offerings on site. It takes the joy of laundry right out of it. But, maybe that would help, and then also you could do the peroxide and dawn steps after a pre-wash if you like.

Tide Rescue pods are surfactants, enzymes and sodium percarbonate in a handy little pod. I would try two in the main wash. I sometimes see them on store shelves (rare). Mostly I order them from Target or Amazon. If you type Tide Rescue pods into the search box at Amazon it comes up. I send them to one of our kids who lives in an apt and uses coin-op washer/dryer.

Powders tend to work better than liquids on "dirt"-type soils so your findings on that are on-target.
