Bob, 7.5 for me for growing trees, hating winter 20. I am in the wrong country :)

I think I am between 7-8 Bob. I always have unexplained issues each winter with identical treatment and even placement indoors. Who knows...it may just be some trees are more vulnerable than others. I have a few this year that really need to go back outside soon, so hopefully they hold on for another couple of months.

Sunshine, I know this for a fact, you radiate a lot of heat. Anyway stay warm, just a few more weeks, then we could go sunning again outside and be overly snowed with things to do.

Laura, you sure with that number, I think you are 8plus. I you hit close to 9 this year, I going to send you a well deserved price. Going to ask forum members to chip in. What do you think, Mike?

Bob, hello! You are so nice giving Sunshine that encouragement that I could surely use too. I am so depressed with this weather and although I think I am a 9, with the same issues as Laura, I think the weather is out of our control and our poor trees at it's mercy no matter what we do.

Funny, I have a Lemon Meyer loaded with tons of buds, but they just won't open. Not enough warmth and sun. Ugh Bob, so depressing. I can't wait until I can stick my gravity chair into the warm sun and bake in it! I'll bet you can't wait until you get to go fishing again)))

Steve, you got that wrong, we are the best! I got my views, what we got now will blow over soon. I have done exstremely well, very productive live, nothing finer. Great praise to our country. Our government is known for waist but we the people will always set them straight. Go vote!

I was hoping to see some 3 or 4's (newb's) and watch them accelerate to a higher number fast. Too many oldtimers here????

Here you go, Bob, I'm your low number! But I think I started out in the negatives, because I had these gorgeous 40 year old orange trees in my old house that were unstoppable, and I neither fed nor watered them ever!

So when I moved here, I assumed I had dud trees until everyone on this forum told me: feed them, you dummy! (Except way more kindly!)

I think I am around 3 to 4 now: I know to feed them regularly, watch for those white bugs (name escapes me), watch out for black dust, ignore the leaf curl (mostly), and hose down occasionally. So far the difference has been dramatic. The Meyers kicked into high gear, as did the finger lime and calamondin. The little key lime is doing well for being just a couple of feet tall. The Rangpur will have to eventually be relocated or just given up on, it's not happy at all.

KC, sounds like you are doing just great. Read as much as you can about soilless soils, PH of whatever you are growing. Don,t get in the race of reading what everyone is telling to do, be selective of the tree,s you want to grow and don,t be in a hurry, there is a lot to learn here. Growing stuff is not all that difficult. Me, I like to experiment on my own, because there is somuch available and that is the part I enjoy the most. In the end beautiful tree’s with big globs hanging from it, nothing like it. Go for it big time, we are looking out for you.

Bob, everything goes in ground here! The only thing I have not in ground are my raised vegetable beds, some pots of flowers by the front door, and some more pots for tomatoes and eggplants because we can never have enough of those!

With Citrus now I'm a solid 7, sadly can't say the same for my tropicals I'm struggling through another winter with them still learning. Years in I'm still a 4 with tropicals.

KC, sorry, you going to feel sorry for us potgrowers, not easy for us.

DNE, I grow Jaboticaba, Atemoya,Mango, so far so good. Red Jabo,s not very hard to grow and produces a lot of fruits for me. Four yields per year.

I believe we are container growers. I don't believe there are any pot growers in this group. LOL

Mike that's funny as hell. Bob how do you manage with mango and atemoya they are my greatest challenge over the last few years. When do you bring them in, what kind of pots are you using are you giving them extra light and heat. Send me some pics when you get a moment I'm at the point again when I'm about to give up on them.

im a container grower but would like to transitions some into the ground....im an 8 container and maybe a 4 for in ground

DN, for me it,s rather easy. First yo.u got to have the right set up. Mango don,t over water the tree, no strong fertilizers, Jabo,s lost of watering, acidic fertilizer , Espoma holly tone.

Chirimoy, also pretty easy, lots of pruning.
