I agree with illsstep..seems like a viburnum..I also tried to zoom and wasn't successful..

Third vote for one of the Viburnums. There are a large number of cultivars in commerce, so you may want to get some closer in photos either now or when they leaf out for a more specific ID. You want to choose a type that is less vulnerable to the Viburnum leaf beetles since they bother some types more severely than others. Or panicled hydrangeas (Hydrangea paniculata) like Limelight also would make a good screen for a spot with at least half day sun.

Reminds me of vibirnum dentatum.

V. dentatum is one that is really vulnerable to the beetles IME, so I wouldn’t recommend it. I ripped mine out during winter and burned the debris to kill the eggs. I have not had nearly the same same damage level with other Viburnums.

In the second shot the leaves and internal branching look like those of nine-bark. But peter needs to show closer views for anyone here to be sure what these are.

And at any rate in USDA 6 it should be possible to screen with broad-leaved evergreen shrubs, that provide the desired effect throughout the year.

^^ And that was established a week ago :-))
