This is not meant to be harsh but need to warn you - none of that looks good together, neither counter option goes with the backsplash. They’re completely different color families and extremely busy! And I most certainly would not use both of them. I’d choose one of them and then choose a much less busy backsplash.

What are the bigger peachy/cream tiles meant for?

All those materials are separately pretty. But together they are loud and fight one another.

You *can* do your island with a different top than the rest of the counters. But it would need to be substantially different. e.g. very dark island and light counters; or butcherblock island and quartz counters. And at least one of the 2 materials would need to be very quiet.

So think about which of the materials that you posted is your favourite-- the one that you know your kitchen must have. Let that be the star. For the rest, limit your materials and let them be subtle.

I already bought the most expensive Onyx cushion cut backsplash. B/c the speckle Dots and dark gray veins Quartz I thought goes together. Unfortunetly I wish has a creamier background but does Not.

My first thought was a solid honey/creamy color Quartz but no luck finding it. On your righ there is a solid off white color but found it very boring. I love the honey color Onyx. Cannot and do not want to change that. The countertop is not done yet.

What color are the cabinets?

Computer monitors are not true to color so this is just a guess. You might look at LG Soprano quartz countertop:

Cab. Are Very dark brown

The solid color looks great over the dark cab. But not over the so-called “ latte” color island.

The sample u post would not go with the creamy /honey color. I was consedering solid gray. I have veins in the onyx Gray color.

In this case boring is good. Those onyx tiles are beautiful! But they are prima donnas. If I went with a light-coloured counter, I'd probably do something like Caesarstone's Blizzard. It's a warm white with a fine texture but no big movements. And if I went dark, I'd look for a very plain coffee colour.

Since you say all new kitchen you should hire a designer to help you choose. The elements you have shown do not look nice together. It is actually best to choose back splash material after counter tops are installed. Two busy surfaces in one room rarely if ever works. You really need the help.

I will use two strip like on the pict. here with the solid light color for countertopI and same size of course. Unlike on this shot. The mosaic ties it together with the dark cab. Also not show much in the photo the mosaic has honey color glass pieces Too. U still do not like it ? that is OK.

The backsplash tile will obviously be the “star” of the show, hence the advice to tone down the countertops. You need a solid complementary color for all the other surfaces.
When someone comes to see your kitchen, their eyes will go straight to the backsplash, but having 2 kinds of tiles, and countertops with movement, only take away from your favorite part.
Whites and solids are good background singers. Let the onyx be Beyoncé. I don’t think she shares the stage with anyone else, do you?

People have different tastes but I doubt you will get anyone here to like all those patterns together. The gray quartz is a cool color and won’t go with the cabinets or backsplash. If you’re in love with the small black tiles you’ve already purchased then just go with those. They don’t go well with the other honey colored tiles. Then pick a solid color countertop. It will look nice.

Ok. I got it. On the dark cab. With the honey onyx backsplash I will use the vanilla solid color Quartz for countertop. On the Latte color Island using the light background color with gold/honey color lines Quartz .both from “Spectrum “

I think you'll be happy with the honey onyx tile and vanilla counter on the dark cabinets. But I'd look for a different counter for the latte cabinet. If you can find a plain quartz in a dark colour similar to your dark cabinets, then you'll have better flow.

p.s. Prima Donna means "first lady" and refers to a lead opera singer. Some say they don't like to share the stage.

The Onyx tiles are beautiful. why do you want to complicate things?

even in this one they stuck w/the onyx mosaics. Don't bring in those dark mosaic tiles.

I like some of the elements together, it kind of feels like a bit of a different aesthetic which is very rich, complicated, elaborate and dramatic, maybe more than what is typically seen. I kind of like the one that looks like it has burnt toffee bits in it with the dark tile, and a light creamy counter with the creamy peachy tiles.

The Mozaic I’m Using to break up all that honey. In this pict. I would use it only as a frame no other place.

It’s hard to visualize it, normally you’d frame something different and special?

ToJWilliams Ps. Between the two upper cab. I have 36” wall with the 13” wide vent.in the middle.This vent is 24-26” away from the cooktop. So maybe it’s not going to be too big.

Until your cabinets are in, I'd hold off on making more decisions about backsplash. It's like trying to put together an outfit by starting with the jewellery.

I think you'll find that once your dark cabinets are in, you won't need the dark tile to set off the large honey onyx. To give yourself an idea, put down a dark cloth and do your tile layout on that. It will give you a better idea than the white sheeting you're currently using.

You like things a bit busier than most people on Houzz prefer. So, in keeping with what you like - this is your kitchen after all - I think you have to only use on countertop not two, and it really needs to be the one on the far right of the first pic you posted. There is so much texture and pattern to your tiles that you need a calm counter with no veining at all. The two samples you have on the left and middle will only compete with the back splash and you really want that tile to stand out on its own.

abouth the top on the Island. I tell u why I like the darker one. B/c. Ties together with the mozaic I’m planing to use on the backsplash.it has all those colors the mozaic has.I’m also realized I cannot please every one.

I like contrast. Without they r’ bland too much and makes it Boring.

I know you love all these tiles separately but putting them together is a different story. Is that a third tile you want to use over the stove? After your cabinets are installed put the countertops in on the perimeter. Then take the tile you love along with some blue painters tape and try to put it up as a backsplash. Look at it for a few days and see if you still love it. Have you thought about how the grout is going to be on these tiles? Will the tiles lay flat or will they be different heights? Are you installing tile or contractor?

Etelka, could you post a pic of your dark cabinets?

For your light island, I am not a fan of either of your counter choices. If you want something contrasty and blingy, how about something like Geoluxe Eramo or Caesarstone Woodlands.

Not being a person with tile installation experience, the differences in tile height were making me wondering how they will appear together as well...also, the dark tile are rectangles so they will be changing orientation to make the frame...

JWilliams is this “special”? I’m joking. Yes the onyx has a so called cushion cut it makes it look 3 dimension. I still like the mozaic I just have to figure out how to corporated. Here is some tile work I done in the

The tiling you did in your downstairs kitchen (hexagonal tiles) turned out beautifully! I think no matter what you choose, it’ll be great. I like the idea of the frame above the cooktop. Very nice accent :)

With my Daughter’s help We found “Taj Mahal” Quartzite . Her Friend has it in Her Kit.

you can found it here too but seeing it in person makes a big different. Love it.expensive but beautiful. Will not clash with my Onyx. In her kit. has a similar mozaic for backsplash under the hood. Dark countertop on light cabinets and this “T.M.’ over the dark island. (That Island is huge at least 20’ long). Opposite the way I have the furnitures .HERE on Houzz I seen a honey color Onyx backsplas with a black/honey color countertop . Cannot get more info on that other then a pic. That would look greate on my light Island. Cont.
