Hosta S 2018 ....

Look for the Phil The ground hog today for a complete and precise weather report. While we are waiting show us some Ss today:

I wonder which hostas those are in the front.

I wonder how many people will answer.

So many nice S's out there. Sapporo is new to me and looks interesting. My Sagae is so different I should be calling it something else (Liberty?)

Sea Angel Wings - looking forward to this one getting bigger.
    Silver Bay and Star Power

Seducer - looking better, starting to give The King a run for his money.

    Snake Eyes early May
and in mid July after twisting off that sport in May
    Spartacus

    St. Paul

    Stephen King

Too many S's, maybe we should split them into two days.

    More - Stir It Up

Summer Music - nice color change on this one

Sunshine Glory - Love the color progression on this one. I need to do a better job of capturing it this year.

I love everyone's Sagae..Pamela Harper - the author of one of my favorite books Time - Tested Plants said Sagae was her favorite hosta and Great Expectations was a "bitter disappointment"..I always intended to get a Sagae..

peren..Strawberry Yogurt is so cute..you have the best blooming hostas I've ever seen..

    Seducer on the left..
Sum and Substance..love the big leaves..no nice pics of Striptease and Sunpower..

Mbug I have lusted after your Stag's Leap for a few years now.

Saija, you started off the thread beautifully! And I had the same feeling about Silver Shadow---elegant looking.

Really like your Stetson Karin! How old is it?

Nice placement of your Silver Bay, peren.all. Smokey Mountains---what character! Isn't Snow Cap one that is difficult to grow? Yours doesn't look like it!

Steve, your Sea Angel Wings is very pretty. I would love to see how it looks when it is larger too.

Sunnywood, that Sara's Sensation is a beauty!

Sherrygirl, that Sugar and Spice looks perfect in the blue pot!

Love that Summer Music, old dirt!

I lost my 1st Sagae to rot, so I purchased a second one. I am so glad that I did. All your Sagae's are smashing!

    Sagae

    Seducer

    Seducer leaf

Surfer Girl. New with dirt and all!

Sun Mouse, new this year. I am trying my hand at minis.

Pretty flowers of Sum and Substance

I got Stetson in 2017, it was a division from an adult plant.

Newhostalady, I think your SAGAE has too wide of a yellow margin?

Striptease #2 or Snake Eyes. Time will tell.

    Stained Glass

    Stained Glass #2

    Squash Casserole

    Squash Casserole leaf

So you think my Sagae is perhaps something else, sunnywood?

Here is a photo of my first Sagae. Margins, I think, were also wider. It had been a field division from a hosta seller.

New Hosta Lady - is it possible that the single Sagae Leaf is actually Seducer?

Newhostalady , I agree with ConnieMay , the leaf must be Seducer , the plant looks right.

ConnieMay and Sunnywood, you are absolutely right! I have made a correction for the photo. Thank you both!

Don, Love Silk Kimono - don’t have that one - very elegant.

    Sunnywood, Sara’s Sensation is stunning!

I only have have photos of a few of my S’s... hopefully more next year. And speaking of which - I was heading out through the garage yesterday and noticed one little pip coming up on So Sweet! I think she’s over-anxious. We definitely have more winter to go.

I have a few more little ones that haven't been posted yet, so I thought I'd go ahead and add them. Silk Road - a sport of Silk Kimono. I like the way the leaves hang on this (and Silk Kimono)

    Smiley Face
And since I took so many pics of Stir It Up last year

So many wonderful S's! Thankfully I have some of these that I have not planted yet, but my goodness I could add at least one from every person who posted.

Saija I got Silver Shadows and your pic makes me really happy I did.

sunnywood I have Sara's Sensation. Yours is stunning! How long has it been in your garden and how large a plant did you start with?

Thank you newhostalady. Smokey Mountains is one that has especially nice buds & quite nice flowers to add to it's character. Snow Cap is on Don Rawson's list of difficult to grow but it likes it here. I grow 5 others that are on the list that have given me no trouble at all. GE is also on the list but you certainly have no issues growing it to perfection!

Sherry...yes, the solid yellow leaves on Satisfaction have been consistent for a few years. It's a big plant, and I'm too chicken to try to separate.

dave....I'm sure you will love Stag's Leap. If the tc's work its way over here I'll definitely invest.

Needs some good filtered sun,,,but not too much. I try to provide some extra shade when.it gets too hot. Good luck with them!

Peren , I planted Sara’s Sensation in 2015. It was a 2 gal plant from a local nursery. It really jumped in size last year.

Thanks for the info sunnywood. You have a wonderful collection from A-Z!

mbug - So many great specimens!

Seeing all these wonderful Sugar and Spice makes me feel badly that I have not planted it yet! Sherry it sure likes being in that pot. What a lovely way to display it!
