Design Dilemma Home Decorating Entry

Narrow entryway-help needed!

Looking for some suggestions on my entryway. I am hoping to get a new runner, smaller bench and add a mirror. The mirror on the bench here is silver, I was thinking of painting it, maybe something colorful and tie it into the rug? Or paint it black or get something a little more abstract? The bench I thought could be a industrial wood bench. Thoughts?

Do you need a bench there for shoe removal? Entry seems too narrow for one in that space. Is there room for one (maybe shorter so it would fit without interfering with stairway) closer to the stairs where the opposite wall isn't as close?

Then just center a colorful runner from the door, maybe some art on the wall.

I do think a need some bit of seating, I thought a shorter bench could provide that, plus space underneath for a small amount of storage or shoes. Would a small stool be better suited?

Not sure this is the area to put the bench in, also who can reach the hooks up high like that?

What is going on in that other room with the desk, this might be the room to hang coats and put a small bench.

That wall space would make an awesome collage wall leading to the stars. maybe a few low hooks, a mat for shoes and the mirror thats all folks.

I agree with Olychick smaller bench closer to stairs without interfering with stairs and a nice runner - here is a link with something smaller with storage - just an idea.
