No, I dont think it is too small but I do think it should be repositioned. I would turn it so that the part of the cow that is facing the fireplace is closest to the corner where the pillows are on the sofa.

If that does not work then keep rotating it until you find the right spot.

I also dont think that the furniture needs to be under the cowhide as it would with a regular rug. Just one small portion under one piece of furniture works imo. In your case, I think it can be pulled further away from the sectional.

Reposition it, I don’t think it’s too small. If it were a more traditional rectangular rug in some other material it would be too small, but not in that style. I don’t think it necessarily needs to be placed under the furniture.

It is a bit small, but not unworkable. Don't pull it so close to the sofa. Also, a glass top coffee table would be good.

I think you should turn it 45 degrees. IMO hides look best when they are not parallel with the furniture.

I'd go light and round.
