Well, having discussed this before. The answer is whatever someone is willing to pay.

The reality is that most people won't pay over some relatively low arbitrary amount like perhaps $5, and that only if they are in good bloom.

If they were very unique (which they are not), you could get more from a hobbyist.

And unfortunately, they're usually looked on as a pretty temporary ornament, to be thrown out when blooms cease.

Phalanopsis orchids and many other plants are as well these days. Hence the dyed orchids and spray painted cacti/succulent obscenities commonly seen in so many stores.

Sadly - yes. You cannot get good money - even if you paid $10 or more for the pots alone. Put them on the Craigsist and make sure that the buyers know they are getting them with an EXPENSIVE s/w pot. Make good staged photos. Something like - put a plant on a well lit table with a table linen - main thing - you need a solid unclattered background, not white. Turn your plant the way it looks the best - and take a pic of the whole plant - flowers, pot and leaves. Nothing else - no distractions, no other plants and no clutter. You can put several pics of best ones on a craigslist - and give a price of each one - up the ones that are in S/w pots. But... probably $8 top ...

Alternatively, repot them and save the pots. It probably won't affect costs much if, If you use same size pots and just swap, no trauma to plant.

It is hard to repot plants without disturbing the roots - and then it will take some time for the plants to perk up - the first thing they will do - lose blossoms. And then - you cannot really sell them until they bloom again.

So - if you can use these self watering pots in future - and they are quite expensive - it make $$ sense to repot and give away the AVs and keep the pots. If you do not have the original pots saved - use plastic beverage cups with holes punched.

Yup... they look at the Optimaras in full bloom at the big box store - and they are fresh good blooming plants - under $5 - and general public doesn't know the difference between Optimaras and more fancy varieties. They think in a numbers of $ 5 and less. On the other side - if you are selling show plants - Xlarge with heads of bloom - the customers shell money.

While JMagor's plants are healthy and blooming - they are not "finished" - like Optimaras - so ... in the eyes of his customers...$3 is a good price

If they were for sale, I'd say a good show plant could bring much more. I don't grow for show, but I would think even the public would pay upwards of $25 for a well grown one.
