Cottage Gardens Design Dilemma

Add retaining wall around existing beds.

Hi all,

can anyone help me find resources on putting a retaining wall around existing beds? Nothing I google is coming up with anything. A retaining wall in our backyard is crumbling and the bricks are the same age as our house (1940) so I thought I would try and use them in the front yard. Existing beds are not raised and our house is on a slight incline (but paralle, if that makes sense). Any links or advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No snow to show it’s just a line of river rock. Snow to sho more of the width. Sorry

Sorry that is not the area to picture we would need to see the existing retaining wall the river rock is in no way aretaining wall If you want to replace the river rock with bricks there is no reason why you can’t but I want to know why you have a reatining wall in the other area, they are usually built for a good reason.

Snow pic won’t post for some reasoN. Maybe retaining wall in the backyard is the wrong description. It’s just edging for an empty bed, it’s not holding back soil or anything.

Front yard. The brick in the back is 3-4 bricks high and you can see all of gr bricks from inside or outside of the bed so definitely purely decorative.
