I like the area rug, but is it washable? I'm thinking the area would require a washable rug with all the sticky hairspray, etc. The vase and the maroon art by the window are too large. The headrail looks to be a bit too wide for the window.

The shower was clear glass I changed it for frosted.
The rug was extremely expensive some type of wool

I loved the rug so much I didn't care..
    Any other suggestions???

I too love the rug. It is hard to tell with the dark cabinet, is there hardware, or did you opt for no hardware?

I believe I would frame out the mirror.

I love the overall look! Since you just finished the remodeling, I guess adding wall color is out of the question. Rich brown accents would have made a nice contrast to the pleasant but not impressive color scheme. Maybe sconces on the sides of the mirror? A garden stool with a basket of towels? The bathroom is on the brink of a very elegant look :). Good luck!

Great idea to frame the mirror, Margo! However, I wonder what lights are above it.

I can add a pic if the lights above I really like them.. I agree frame mirror this is just the builders mirror.. It cost so much for the stupid rug I couldn't do mirror also:(
I will add pics tomrrow of the light above as the pic is not coming out without natural light, which I will post in am.
I also would love ideas on my other rooms also will post in am.the help is so appreciated :)

Also Margo there is no hardware on cabinets.

Audra I just painted the bathroom.. I am guessing the color wasn't a good choice?

I would put copper hardware on the cabinets ;)

The large metal artpiece to the left of the sink looks like it might get in the way when using that area. I really like that piece ... would it fit horizontally over the tub area?

Indianpatty if you mean the tray in between the sinks
, it is a glass tray that holds a vase and candles do you think it is not in a good place , I thought it separated the two sink areas? I'm also adding a pic of the light above counter

I'm not digging the wine colored sculpture or the green candles. Everything else looks wonderful. Perhaps you can put some tall black/purple candles in different heights where the sculpture is.

cmorg1- is your light fixture called *towels hanging* or something like that. I have that fixture in 3 bulb for one of my baths. I thought they looked like clam shells. I love that light!

Something to think about when you recover from sticker shock on the rug:) You could mirror that whole wall with a beveled strip on each side, and have the light fixture mounted right on the mirror.

I think the colors are showing incorrectly.. The sculpture is brown and so are the candles...
Yes Margo they do look like towels hanging, I loved it to.. Ur idea is great.. The fixture on the mirror would really reflect nicely thanks for that suggestion

I would take the vallance down that's over the window, it's too big for the window. I think nothing would be better over the window. I'd put the artwork more on an angle in the corner.
I agree with indianpatti, the large piece of artwork on the left would go much better over the tub but I think there may be another window there as I can see another of those valance things there also.

The light fixture is too smal. It's shining light over the midde section when it should be over each sink.
Maybe two of these, one over each sink would have provided more light. You have done a nice job.

It's going to cost you very very little to frame the builder mirror with wood trim. Google a few DIY bloggers and you will see many detailed tutorials on how easy and inexpensively it can be done. I agree with others that hardware is needed--something bright in metal because the bottom half of the room feels a little heavy with the brown.
Yes I wish I had bought two lights also.. The lighting store is closed don't know how to find that fixture again:( the piece to the left is actually way to big for over the tub, it is about 5 ft high and made of a wicker type material
  • 13 years ago
Yes I thing suggestions about hardware are correct.. Should they match sink faucet meaning silver???
You have done a lovely job, even though some color contrast would have been nice, tying in the rug, the accessories and the room together. I didn't realize how big the space was! It's a great space to work with! The wall above the tub is a bit bare - I agree with angel18432 about placing the artwork over it. Adding lights may not be as easy though :) . I am not sure that a skinny frame on this very large mirror would improve the look a lot; the mirror size calls for a substantial frame, which may be costly and time-consuming to build.
