I have used flat on the walls in the common areas with semi-gloss trims which I think is quite common. If you need for better cleaning, then use slight gloss like satin in those specific areas.

Eggshell is my choice for interior walls, as long as the walls are smooth (without imperfections), especially if you are using B.M. paint. For woodwork, B M semi-gloss.

Sherwin Williams Cashmere low luster is similar in sheen to BM's eggshell.

I don't know about SW specifically, but I hate matte paint on walls. It feels like a chalkboard and gets dirty. I have always used eggshell or satin for walls and semi-gloss for trim.

SW low lustre is a little "flatter" than eggshell, but not as flat as matte, if that makes sense.

I dont like matte paint either. I prefer eggshell on most walls, with the exception of hallways or high traffic areas where I prefer satin, so its easier to clean. For bathrooms and laundrys always, satin, or even semi gloss. Same for trim, either satin or semi gloss. My trim is all semi gloss. I am also probably the only person on this planet, that really dislikes Sherwin Williams paint.
