starting Over with my Garden

I have been off line for some time. My Husband of 30 years passed away On January 29 2016.

Sense that time life has been a struggle! I stopped doing all the things that I loved. I guess Part of me Died with him that day. I am getting my life back on track. First I had to get My Iris Beds back in shape

That was a chore as I have over 400 Named Iris and many others that I grew from seed.

Now I an working on my Flowers and my Yard. I have a few seeds I collected this fall and I will list them later.

I wanted to reconnect and say Hi to all the remember me and To those that don't I am an honest generous trader.

I'm very pleased to meet you, aquawise. I'm so sorry for your loss and it seems completely reasonable that everything was interrupted, including your garden. Your garden waited patiently and I'm sure is welcoming you back now. I would love to see some of your iris. I became rather obsessed with them last year. I do participate in the iris forum as well. Check it out!

give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be

You have some gorgeous iris, aquawise. Beautiful! I see two on your page that i just acquired last year: Orangutan Orange and Wild Iris Rose . I'm hoping to see them bloom in my yard this year. You have a few that I would love to have. Add to my list! Thanks for sharing your album!

I think that trade lists are long gone.

tergrov, I see your trade list. When I click on your name, there is a tab labeled "Ideabooks". In there is an icon labeled "Trade List".

Welcome back and I too have been off for many years due to many medical issues of my hubby. Trying to find my way around here. I traded with you thru Garden Web and perhaps other garden forum sites. Sorry for your loss, feel free to email me. Not sure how all this works yet.

Yes, there used to be a separate "Trade List". Now it's best to create an Ideabook that you keep updated. Part of the struggle is that you can't search (for example) Mammoth Dill and see who has it. Now you have to open each ideabook. The good news is that without Houzz Gardenweb would be 6 feet under.

New people still have to set up Messaging--still seems to be rather complicated instead of slick and easy. You also get a gold star (that's a compliment, not a component of the website) for putting your hardiness zone in your username title! Kudos!

    BTW--a good list includes:

    1. Seeds you have to trade

    2. Seeds you want to receive

    3. Alphabetical, Latin name, by category, by color--doesn't matter. We love any information you give so we can pick from our stash to re-home our little baby seeds to new mommies and daddies!

    4. Other items--extra baggies, plant markers, things you're willing to trade

    Heidi

I'm sorry for your loss. I encourage people to grieve as long as they need and in whatever way they need. Have you considered a corner of a bed dedicated to your husband with the colors he liked, flowers he preferred, etc.? My aunt has a spot with a plastic twirling sunflower and an old metal outdoor chair. I can almost see my grandpa there and he'd be smiling! Just a thought.

Aquawise, very sorry for your loss. The fact that you want to reconnect is a good sign on the road to recovery!

Unlike previously mentioned, I did not see your ideabook or tradelist when I clicked on your name. That sounds very strange. Your irises are absolutely gorgeous and envy of all gardeners.

I look forward to trading with you. I know I have my tradelist on my ideabook; but would not be surprised if someone say to me that they cant see it. Not liking Houzz!!

So sorry for your loss. Welcome back. I miss the old days of the GW when it was more of an active forum. Most folks are on FB sharing pics of their meals. Who cares. LOL.

Aquawise , Welcome back. hope you can find happiness in each day and just know that you are not alone. we care!

I, too, have been absent due to a stoke and am trying to restart my small yard with physical limitations. Gardening and simple buds brings so much joy... this is who i am and flowers and 'garden junk' also bring joy....:-) Blessings and may God be with you!
