It does look good but at the same time it does look like you’re trying to hard, as mentioned above. I feel there are too many decorative pieces in an area that is supposed to be a functional area. I would consider replacing the items on the right side with something decorative yet functional. Could be a soap container, even though you don’t store your soap there, I think it would just make more sense.
You could also try moving the smaller tin buckets to in front of the window grouped with the jar for loose change. I feel it makes more sense to have plants in front of window.

Since you like the buckets, maybe add a touch of white with a ribbon?

athomeeileen, I've contemplated buying the set but thought I'd wait for them to go on sale. What did you do with yours?

I use the biggest for a hamper, the middle for a laundry basket, and the smallest for dog toys. I'm on the fence if they're worth the price. They'd be better if they were all the same size.

athomeeileen, that sounds like good uses for them. I expected them to be smaller when I first checked them on Ballard's site. The price is pretty high. When I first looked at them they were on sale for $50 less which is still kind of high. That can just be the way it is with Ballard. I've been pretty pleased with most items I've ordered from them.

I centered the window and just moved a few things around.... I think I’m liking it a little better now..... I like the idea of getting some decorative container for laundry soap, but I think I’d have to do away with the basket or the big pail.

I keep thinking the shelf looks too... thin. I like the natural finish, but can you add a 1" strip to the front edge? to make it look thicker and more substantial? Just a thought...

I think you should remove the small items leaving the window/wreath, basket and big pail. You could try moving the plant by the basket over with the big pail, then remove all the other small things. I'd probably be happy with just the window/wreath and basket, but I'm more of a minimalist. Bottom line is it needs to look pleasing to YOU.

The decor on the shelf looks cute. I wonder if the reason it feels off is that the big white W/D are on the left and then to the right is that low dark table, which throws off the composition. If this were just furniture you could move the W/D to create balance (either center them or put the table between). But we can't do that. So I think maybe move away from a symmetrical composition. Good news: the artwork is filled with asymmetry. Maybe decorate to offset the visual weight of the W/D? i.e. put something tall and white on the right side of the shelf. Maybe flip the window to vertical and set it to the right, (or even hang it higher on the wall) . See if you have balance and then fill in the decor from there? Then maybe move the cluster of three plants (super cute) to the left, and the basket of towels on the table?

Your initial set-up I still liked [I suppose without the cross-weave lid]. The little planter pots were a good variety on one side, instead of 3 similarly sized items / and large planter competes with wreath.

Can you separate the washer and dryer? The lack of symmetry is unsettling. Or find a white storage cabinet the same height as the washer /dryer to give the room some stability.

I thought about moving the washer and dryer apart.... I may have to try that.

Also the dark table is actually a large clothes hamper that is a woven basket.... love all the ideas, still working on it!

Yep, laundry can be a dreary chore, it helps to make the space beautiful and enjoyable to spend time in!

My laundry room might be my favourite room in my house, msgreenbean. It's the only room that's completely "done", design wise, and it makes me smile every time I walk in there. To be clear, it's not perfectly done but my "vision" for it was accomplished which is more than I can say for the rest of the house. :P

I like your current way better. Is the window square? I think it should be higher, wether you mount it or turn it. my current laundry hallway from the garage. Everything I use handy. My husband is going to make cabinets with the washboards. Showing pictures of old house and new. The shelf is an old wood ironing board right now just sitting on the washer/dryer and will be mounted when he gets the cabinets done.

I like your current way better as well, msgreenbean. I'm no green thumb but must say that I could easily picture some tall-ish white flowers behind those pails. Just feel you could give the whole arrangement a bit more height. Perhaps turning the window would accomplish that as Cheryl suggested. I'd want the white ribbon around the pail a smidgen wider as well. I love the colours and textures you've got going on your shelf.

The window is 27 x 30, so yes it would be a few inches taller to turn it... may try that too. But seems a little more stable this way since it’s not mounted. I’m always hesitate to put a nail in the wall until I’m absolutely sure! Lol

No just put the smaller one in the corner. The larger one between the window and the wall. Just swap their positions.

The right side needs a bit more open space. Maybe remove the iron...?

So here it is, I think I’m happy, still might find some tall white flowers to go behind the large pail of lavender, it’s our laundry, pantry and bar area lol

Looks very nice. adding some white flowers would be perfect. thanks for sharing a little more of the room. growing up the laundry was in our basement. More utility and not too nice. Having a pleasant place instead of a hole you don't want to spend time in helps make it less of a chore that you have to do.

The tote bag fills that space nicely. As I mentioned, I'm more of a 'less is more' kind of person. When it comes to shelves and decor, I like some open space between items. However, the best thing is that you're happy.
