I've had this majesty palm for nearly a year now with no problems. For the past six months, it has lived next to an east-facing window and I've watered it when the top couple inches of soil are dry, roughly every 3-4 days. It grew well summer-fall and stopped growing in the winter, which I anticipated and thought was normal. Other than some dry, browned tips on some of the leaves (I expected this was normal as well since we have very dry air here in the winter with the heat running) it was doing fine. A few days ago, it suddenly and almost over the weekend began to brown, the leaves folded, and it appears to have died. There are two palms in the same pot, and the smaller one is almost 100% fine except for the end of one frond which looked a little suspicious and I trimmed off. Other than not getting enough sun (the window curtain sometimes remains closed during the day due to being a street-facing, ground floor window) or possibly the deepest roots not getting enough water (I water thoroughly but I generally do not see water come out the bottom of the pot) I have no idea what may have caused this. I would assume the concerns I have would have been slower to kill the palm and have showed signs prior. Attached are pictures of two very dead fronds I cut off, the tip of a frond I cut off the smaller plant, and the two in the pot. The larger palm is tied up in an attempt to allow the two new fronds that were developing to stay upright. Any input/ideas on what may have happened would be appreciated.
