There is no different type of hinge. That is the correct hinge just a product of the size and wall conditions.

Not the installer's fault. Move the offending hooks. The hook over the toilet paper is also badly placed.

As a solution, is there some kind of door stop I can use?

I have a similar configuration and we've just never had a door. If your shower is big enough, the door is kind of superfluous. Judging by the number of robe hooks, I'm thinking this shower gets a lot of traffic!

It's very pretty, by the way. But if that door is going to hit the hooks, I would move them. You can't reach them from inside the shower anyway, right? Good luck!

Maybe you can have a soft door stopper longer than your hooks that would be concealed behind the blue bath robe.

hi Scottie mom, just the two teen girls use this room. so it's two towels and two robes . we didn't have the door for two weeks but unfortunately the 13 year old and the hand shower means water everywhere so I had the door put in. I could have the hooks moved...oh well. thank you.

Can you move the hooks up so that the door goes underneath them when fully open?

Sammy, they are already at 5 feet height and kids can just about reach them. I also made sure the construction guy put a wood beam in the wall where hooks would go so they are sturdy. ugh. wish I had asked here first. :(

There are low-profile robe hooks that the robes and hooded towels will hang from without slipping off. Look at the Kohler Purist, which is pricey, just to get an idea of style.

Can you buy a door stop that acres into the shower threshold. I have the same problem and I will try this first The photo is not the application but the same piece. Lowes or Home Depot $5

I've been researching this. There is an item, called a hinge limit plate. We will be asking our installer about this item.

Yes, FHC sells hinge limit plates. Two sizes: 2.5 mm plate limits the opening to 75 degree angle, and the 4.0 mm plate limits the opening to 65 degree angle.

The hinges must be full back plate; will not work with offset hinges. (An offset hinge is visible only on one side of the shower enclosure.) The limit plates are glued on after shower door installation.

These will work on CRLaurence hinges as well. The one caveat is that FHC offers fewer finishes (7 total); if you have CRL hinges in a "rose gold" finish, the limit plates will not match.

Shower Door Hardware also carries them. We are having a Roda by Basco frameless door installed, so I'm checking to see if they'll work with that. At the cost of the shower door, I'm really suprised that Basco offers absolutely nothing to limit how wide the door can open.

@jillmiglin, FHC is currently the only company manufacturing hinge limit plates, so not surprising that shower door manufacturers do not carry the product.
