I would do a built-in cabinet to the left of the FP to house your TV/media units. Wall mount the TV on a swivel bracket so it can sit flush against the wall when not in use, or you can pull it out/tilt it for better viewing. I would drywall the niche over the fireplace and put a large framed piece of art there. Consider, too, a lighter tile for the FP surround. Perhaps a limestone or even a calacatta marble.

Thanks for your suggestions. Look what we did.

Looks much better, great job

that looks good, I would pull the sofa back a bit, and get a little bit bigger picture as I can still see the hole behind it **wink wink

And if you can a longer tv console would hide the cords to the left or move the box to the left side and lamp to the right.

nicely done in such a short time!!

I agree with the other comments, drywall the alcove above the fireplace. I'd go a step further and add stone veneer floor to ceiling to make it really stand out. Add a big chunky mantle or for a contemporary look go with no mantle. Also, I'd replace your media console with one that fills the whole width of the wall and has storage with doors to hide clutter. On the wide console I would put matching lamps on either side of the tv. Good luck!
