I recently put in new bamboo flooring and have opted to recycle the existing baseboard and shoe moulding that I believe are original to my 1928 Arts & Cratfs bungalow. The baseboards are in good condition but the shoe moulding is in rough condition. I picked a smaller, out of the way piece to try different stains to match & last nite I tried to strip the piece of old stain. Since Ive never done this before I wanted to make sure this piece was ready for staining. I used paint thinner and then sanded with 60 grit and 120 grit. I also have steel wool but havent used it. Am I on the right track?
