those windows-wow! I like them. Door is nice too. Don’t teally see farmhouse and I personally would stay away from those influences based on the pictures and styles in your photos. Keep on posting, curious to see how it turns out!

Do you really love modern/industrial/farmhouse or are you being influenced by what you're seeing everywhere? Before the modern/industrial/farmhouse trend, what style did you like?

Those windows and the door is beautiful! I am with the others, don’t see farmhouse though. By your description of some of the finishes, it does sound more modern to me than farmhouse.

Ashley Scott Congratulations on the new home! Lighting is so personal it is hard to "guess" for someone else. Also I would of course look at lots of lights now but not make the final choices until the kitchen is constructed and you have made the decisions on the sinks and hardware choices etc...That way you can take pictures of the space and look at the lights next to the pics. That said I love lighting! Here are some of my favs:

Well every one of those lights she posted have been around for at least 5 years already, meaning they are trendy. That is why I asked the questions I asked.

I, too, would say that you are tilting more to modern, and I am glad of that.
Have you had a real kitchen designer review your kitchen? I wouldn't personally find it to be a great workspace, but maybe you don't cook as much as I do.
Will you use the island for seating?
I liked a number of Rawketgirls ideas. They would work well with concrete floors and the door/ doorwall.
It's also important to note the star of each area. And let a feature, like your doorwall, really shine. in the kitchen, your granite will be the star.
One star, the rest is supporting cast. The eye needs a place to rest.

oliviag- Thank you! & sorry, the kitchen has been remodeled a little since these plans :) I attached this as a visual for the layout of the space between the living room, dining room, and kitchen. The island will be used for seating.

Since the dining room and kitchen are so close together, would you only add pendant lights above the island and removing the chandelier above the dining room table (only can lighting)? I'm afraid that it might be too much being so close together.

I think I would want a stunning dining room chandelier and can lights in the dining area. In the kitchen; can lights for general lighting and over island, under cabinet lights on all the wall cabs & one pendant over the sink. Of course all the lights are on dimmers for various times of day/tasks.

I almost thought I'd read the worst judgemental and rude comments on this forum, but some of you continue to up the ante.

Since your doorwall is black trim do you want to use black as fixture finish inside? I think you can mix some modern black and gold and tie those fixtures together nicely with those finishes. Bbl with examples.

Ashley. I gathered some examples of fixtures using black and gold and nodding to a look that your front door speaks to you. Decide on finish(s) and select group of fixtures that repeats the finishes but doesn’t look all matchy matchy.

Looks like a stunning start and I love that door! I think I get the style you are going for, which is clean modern lines but with interesting and contrasting materials. Not really modern, farmhouse, or industrial but some elements from each. I have found some beautiful options from Tech lighting that suit this style.

I think your home is going to be stunning and I have no idea why anyone feels you have to choose a style. Do what you love - sometimes it will be an eclectic mix of styles and that's what will make it YOUR home and super interesting!

It's your house and you should do what you want to do.

Even if it's modern/ industrial/ farmhouse. I'd love for someone to post a definition of whatever this is...

I have seen your "style" described as Foundry Modern Farmhouse with descriptions stating this "style" is a combination of Modern clean lines, with the warmth of casual woods, with metals that harken to hardware of Farmhouse designs. In other words, it is the new Mid-century Modern (MCM); Foundry Modern Farmhouse (FMF)!

Here is a photo that shows this style. Wood beams, iron and gold metal in chandelier to bring modern looks as well as chair style. Off whites as color palette. Is this look you are going for?

Oh, for goodness sake. Who set a rule that you have to “choose” just one style for your home? If I had to describe my style it would be boho eclectic Scandinavian industrial farmhouse (oh and we actually live on a flower farm, for those who are triggered by that word). And I love it, and that’s all that matters.

OP, I love the steel door, what luck you have to have such skilled friends! Have you checked out Rejuvenation for lights? They are having a good sale today. Or Schoolhouse Electric?

One of the hardest things for folks building a new house, is to "stay on design" track so at the end they have a cohesive overall look. Sometimes having a verbal "framework" to put things in, helps people create the environment they desire, so this is helpful. Not everyone has the talent to do what you do Bri Bosh and I know you just want to help as well.
