palms shed the lowest set of leaves.. i think it might be called a frond ... annually ...

i cant quite tell from the pic.. are the worst the lowest set of fronds??? ... if so.. it might just be time to take them off .... in other words.. entirely normal ...

can you find any newer interior growth??? ... how do those look???

a plant should be watered.. when it needs water ... over watering is not going to solve anything ...

also.. since it was recently moved.. perhaps from grower.. to seller .. to your house.... it is stressed ... lets try to get it settled down ... before we get too carried away with trying to fix some problem ... any type of stress.. can cause some minor leaf damage ...

i see the heat register.. and no close light ... both are further variables.. that probably changed significantly ... if you were in my MI.. where we had a week of single digit temps ... i would suggest you get it away from the heat.. but i suspect.. your idea of cold .. probably is not equivalent ... and might not be a big problem ... but its still different than it was ... wherever it came from ...

anyway ... lets let it harden off to new variables ... cultural variables ... and let it near dry in between waterings.. and lets see what happens ... insert finger.. and find out.. when it needs water ...

Thank you ken for the suggestions. There is a new growth that you can't see from the photo, but it's been a while coming out and I can see the tips are already a bit dry.

The heat is not generally on in that location, but it has been cold recently and I have a space heater going in another part of the room.

I've also noticed a lot of gnats flying around, that usually indicates there is too much water? I am torn because the brown tips make me think there is not enough, I usually water when the finger test feels dry. Will let it dry out more then, thank you!
