Quality sectional/sofa - brands to try?

I'm looking for a sectional (or two sofas, maybe) to replace our two-year-old living room furniture. Our current sofas were very inexpensive and I knew they weren't made to last, but I didn't think we'd have a cracked frame after just two years!

Anyway, we would like to find higher-quality pieces this time that will stand up to daily use by three adults. We are willing to pay for quality (ballpark budget is $5-6K for a largish fabric sectional), but many supposedly decent brands in that price range seem to get terrible reviews. I stopped in to La-z-boy and Bassett yesterday and sat on some of their styles - several were comfortable but the reviews I have read regarding longevity, build quality, sturdiness and customer service/repair issues make me hesitant to even consider them.

I have read better things about Lee Industries, Taylor King, etc., but it is difficult to find showrooms that have the exact models we like to try them out, and of course pricing seems to be all over the map depending on who is quoting. Anyone have other recommendations for well-built upholstered furniture, especially brands that are relatively easy to find on showroom floors? Thanks in advance!

After much debate between Century, Taylor King and Vanguard, we ended up with the Vanguard Envision. The deciding factors were mainly size and arm style, although comfort and fabric options also played a role. All three were nice to sit on but we preferred the sloped track arm that only Vanguard offered. The Century would have been our next choice but it was much larger, about 10" in each direction, and we felt it might overwhelm our space. We ordered it from Lexington Furniture, who beat local prices by over $1000. Total cost in a Grade 26 fabric (no decorative upgrades) was $5500. It arrived yesterday and we LOVE IT. Just need to repaint the room and get a new rug! :)

I had a custom Lazyboy made and we’re going on 4 years and it’s still in perfect shape. We did the performance fabric. I have two disgusting teenagers and a dog too, along with two electric recliners. I have had to call them once when I thought maybe part of the frame had broken when it was moved to paint but it turns out I just didn’t know how to connect it back up correctly. I had great service, quick and friendly using my local store.

Well, we did some reconnaissance shopping today and sat on every sectional we could find at Safavieh, Macy's, Crate and Barrel, Bassett and Stickley Audi. We really loved the Taylor Made series by Taylor King and Cornerstone by Century, but the prices are a bit painful - I haven't gotten estimates yet but looking at the prices of the floor models we're probably looking at closer to $8-9K in these brands. Lee Essentials and Stickley's 7000 series were also nice and a bit more moderately priced - I think we could stay under $5K with these, and the construction is similar quality to TK and Century from what I could tell. We also found a budget choice at Macy's in case we are too chicken to pull the trigger on the more expensive brands.

Anyway, any info or positives/negatives for Lee Essentials, Stickley 7000, Taylor Made or Century Cornerstone would be greatly appreciated!

biondanonima Seems that you got a great deal, please post the phone number or website to Lexington Furniture. I tried searching online bud didn't find an stores in the area. I'm thinking of purchasing either the Vanguard Nicholas or the Envision. Thanks. BTW, your sectional looks fabulous.

Lexfurniture.com is the website. They were incredibly helpful with quotes for various brands and their prices couldn't be beat!
