Logees would be a fun place to visit! Even though there are a lot of tropical nurseries here in FL, I would still like to see Logees in person some day. I know it can be challenging to grow tropicals in cold places (I used to do it) and they do it well! They have some nice videos up on you tube as well.

I went to Stokes Tropicals in Louisiana when they were still around. They had some nice big greenhouses with lots of neat things like blooming AEAE bananas with variegated fruit on them. I should have taken photos.

A lot of the Ace Hardwares around here have pretty good nurseries with a lot of tropicals etc. Here is some pics from one I went to around Christmas time lol.

Its an eclectic nursery for sure. The have a lot of cacti and succulents outside that I didnt get a photo of. They also had dinosaur statues and monkeys hanging from the outside trees lol. The kids like going there.

A different nearby Ace specializes in gingers, herbs, and pitcher plants and another in citrus. They are all independently owned I think but you can always find something.

I think I just don't have the humidity in winter, and, as I recall, they didn't like me neglecting them while I went off skiing :-) Cactus and succulents are much more forgiving!

Ventured out to my favorite greenhouse today. First, it was a great winter day for us in Michigan. Next, I had to return some unsold plants from this past weekend sale and I just love walking around. Not as many flowers as posted by Wendy.

Sharon, this is the greenhouse at which we've been trying to meet for years. There’s going to be an open house in April. LOL.

Wendy, you’d have good restraint. It isn’t hard. I was there for several hours today and didn’t purchase anything.

I love it at Logees! Unusual plants and so tropical. I make a run there twice a year in the Winter especially when depressed. Going there when depressed and a wallet is a bad idea. Lol

Meyermike, You're right, I should leave my wallet behind when going to Logee's. A trip or two there in the winter sure does cheer me up, though :-)

A snow covered, cloudy day today so I took a trip to Ballek's nursery for another dose of spring. They have a small greenhouse with some interesting plants and a great selection of pots. Years ago they used to have a rather homicidal rooster. At least he didn't like men. He would sidle up to my husband and try to peck his feet.

It’s a very cold gray day here as well. My greenhouse is warm and has some colorful Phals.

Bikerdoc, I don't know what to say other than marvelous!!1 I can't believe how beautiful you have done with them and you even grow plants on the opposite of the spectrum, succulents!! NIce job and thanks for the color.

Stupidlazydog, you know how I feel about your plants! I'm reminded of walking through a greenhouse with all your great plants. I thought I had a lot. Just perfect!! Hey, d you have too? Remind of this dreaded winter? My god, it looks just like that here. Beautiful and depressing at the same time.

Sultry, I would be BROKE if I lived down there and I would have yard with just about every plant I could fit, especially orchids. What a aplace to shop. Hope you don't spend too much.

Getting many of my palms out on Saturday, FINALLY, after a VERY COLD early March here in NJ. May delay the Citrus exodus for a bit more; then again, they may get thrown out too, so over this Winter! Anyone wanna see pics of northern palms after a very weird Winter with almost NO SNOW in "meteorological Winter" (December-January-February), it all fell in November and March!

Will post pics on Saturday.

Going to be a long time before I can move anything out. Still snow covered here, and it was -4° out when I got up this morning :-(

Fabulous photos, Isde! I love that fat Pachypodium (photo #4). Is that eburneum? Looks a little tall for brevicaule. Also love the Dorstenia gigas... and all the others for that matter :-)

Thanks Sld, no I think that it was labeled as horombense as was the one in the second to last picture. But they did have eburneum and brevicaule.

Looks squatter than the ones I've seen. I like it!

I would say that it looks chubbier as well. Here's one of the brevicaule.
