Yeah, don't go with yellow. :-) I agree with Mrs. S. A bright white might be really nice. But if that's too stark for you, perhaps a light taupe or a light terracotta would be lovely. Can't give you more specific color help unless you (a) post a picture of the actual cabinets or (b) tell us what paint color/number the cabinets are.

Stark bright white looks good in a few spaces - but bleak and terrible in many.

Natural and artificial lighting, reflection of the decor, outdoor scene, size of room, orientation, weather, many factors affect the look of a colour, and white is tricky to get right.

Try SW Accessible Beige.

Or if you really want to go with something different, I'd try a very grayed light lavender.

Thanks for the suggestions. I forgot to mention that the wall going into the kitchen is white shiplap so I wanted something different on the other walls. I’ll try to take pics when I’m home later.

If you have the light, you could match the cabinets. Very cozy and quite dramatic.

I just had the greatest experience at my local Lowes. There was a woman working there who gave me great recommendations. I left with samples of SW Napery and Almondine. She also showed me a grey a really liked which I would have never considered had she not suggested it.

So neither of the two samples worked. The almond looks like grey and the Napery looks peach. Napery is the one on the top and Almondine is at the bottom in the first photo. I think I have a lighting problem.

Creamy white ( not yellowish ).

The cabinet's shape, size and layout is actually pretty good. I even think the color is actually nice ....but maybe not for your kitchen. It is not a bad kitchen AT ALL.

Why not just paint the cabinets AND the walls. I'm going to suggest white cabinets. Yes I know a lot of people with say "another white kitchen". But white kitchens are a classic look and you have a small space. A dark cabinet for the upper cabinets is a little strong for the small space. If you keep the cabinet color, I'd swap out some of the top doors with glass doors.

One teeny thing. :-) You seem to have a lot going on , there's an orange juicer (maybe?), a soda stream, mixing bowl, a stack of books/mail, a coffee maker, knife set , a bunch of things on the fridge a cat. Most people use the coffee maker daily so I'd keep that out, but put every else away...the knives can go in a drawer. I say this because you have a small kitchen (I do too) and the more you get off the counter the better it will look.

And that photo was taken after I straightened up a little bit! Normal Monday morning kitchen in my house. We have weird storage space, it looks like there’s enough but there’s really not or more likely we’re not using it utilizing it efficiently.

I’d love to paint the cabinets white (or navy) but I’m worried it won’t work? The doors are birch but there’s something about the way that makes me imagine the paint just sliding off of them. Maybe I’ll try it first on one next to the frig that’s hard to see.

Cabinets are nice. Since they seem to have a good finish, I would leave them. Put in some new more daylight type bulbs, in your light fixtures, so that you have good lighting. I think a very nice light colored rusty terra cotta would look very nice and add some interest to your room.

Choose a similar color to the shiplap - don't try to contrast.

I agree with matching color in shiplap. The cabinets are very nice. Also if you can take off a door and take it to Sherman Williams I think they can help you. Another option is to use their online app which allows you to post picture and try colors. This will help narrow down color. SW also has a color specialist who can come to your home. Most of the cost will be recouped if you buy paint. Good luck

I love your green cabinets. You need a nice cream paint for the walls and the shiplap. SW Dover White, Creamy, Aged White. Get some samples.

I would suggest you switch your lighting to LEDs in the 3500-5000K range before choosing any color for walls or cabinets. Those cabinets are painted so why do you think they can’t be painted again? IMO terra cotta walls will make that kitchen really dark. Are you planning in the near future on redoing that space ? I could be a much better space with some good planning , and please get a counter depth fridge it will immediately make that space feel bigger. Storage sometimes is just a matter of reorganizing and getting rid of stuff you don’t use or that you use once in a while maybe put those items somewhere else even in the basement. If you are ever going to redo make sure all the lower cabinets are drawers a much better way to store items even dishware and glass ware. I think I would need to see the areas surrounding the kitchen to suggest a wall color.I have to tell you I do not see gray as option for the walls in that space.

OK, here's my experience with paint color when it's surrounded by yellow: Don't test samples on yellow.

I repainted a yellow room with SW Agreeable Gray. I knew what it was going to look like, but I swear until I had painted the last wall, I kept on checking my paint to see whether the gray had been properly mixed. On the wall it looked purple, peach and all kinds of shades until the last yellow was finally covered up.

Agree with all the previous posters who are saying the green cabinets are lovely! It's a beautiful kitchen. Just get rid of the yellow!

I like the color of your cabinets and think it would be great if you carried the color that is on the left side where the ship lap is into your kitchen walls. Right now the different paint colors are creating a choppy feel. Once you continue the ship lap white on the kitchen it will make the room flow.

I would also de-clutter and add a backsplash.
