Help My Windows

Need to remove blinds. Not sure what to replace with. My idea was to hang sheers with heavier drapes on the end of each window like in the pic. There is a sliding glass door next to a window. problem is there is less than 3" of space between wall and back of couch. Couch cannot move, no space. Do not want to turn around , want to keep the space open. Any suggestions? Also would like to keep some blue visible.

I would put roman shades on LR window and curtains on DR sliders.

also you should pull that rug out from under the sofa help make it seem larger there.

I'm assuming it doesn't matter that the windows are decorated differently on the same wall.

Thanks for the rug tip. I can definitely see what a difference it will make.

What's on the other end of the room by the sliding doors?

No, it would be nice to say match fabrics but some times space has to function over form.

Open the blinds so we can see what kind of windows/sliders you're dealing with.

Window treatments don't have to be the same, but I would be selective.

As usual, I agree with RL, so I moved your sofa and added a sofa table behind. Art should be 2/3 - 3/4 the width of the sofa and be hung 5 - 8" above. (In this case, art plus lamps should cover about 3/4 the width.)

Additionally, I think this room would be improved by toning down the intensity a bit. I'd remove about half of the pillows and choose a more subdued rug.

insert, the face of that's what I was thinking.

Could you please show us the rest of the room? What is opposite the window wall and the area the sectional is facing? I would normally want a view outside not facing the interior.

The window behind the couch is three piece glass with the left and right slides open toward the center.

If I pull the section of the on the grey wall it will push the remaining unit on the window wall to the door way.

How were you able to insert the table and lamp behind the sectional? is that an app?

Hi, adhutchins. I used Photoshop to alter your room. Now that I see the other views, I have a couple more comments and then I will work on your room a bit more and return with another rendering.

You seem to have three different colored walls here. In a space this small, that is not a good look. Also, you have the turquoise accent on the wrong wall. It is all cut up by the windows and becomes disjointed. I would suggest you repaint the window wall and the dining wall a neutral color, and paint the sofa wall turquoise instead.

Your artwork over the sofa is unsettling in the manner it's hung. Those canvases are really the wrong aspect ratio for that space, though you might be able to use them in a grouping or they might go better in the dining room.

I assume both windows are actually sliding doors and the one behind the sofa is the one you use. Do you actually need curtains on them? If you could get away without them, it would totally open up the room.

These are obviously not your sliding doors, but it gives an idea of how it opens up the room.

If you must have curtains, I would get enough panels--at least 2 1/2 times the width of the sliders--so that when closed, they still drape nicely and don't look like flat sheets tacked up on the wall.

You might make this art work here by grouping it with another piece like so:

Your art should cover 2/3 - 3/4 the width of the sofa and hang 5- 8" above.

Its ok if your sofa is closer to the sliding door. it looks as though you could pull it leas forward at least 18 inches which is all you need. Looks like a covered patio on the other side, so just wondering how much you need the curtains to actually block light or if they would be open more?

Stack those painting on the dining room wall they will look better there.

Love the grey wall being blue. And the placement of the wall art. I wasn't done with the art but thanks for the idea.
