For me, I have to need to mix it when I use it. It does a great job with most anything. If it's the same one I get. The one I get has lots of perlite in it. I'm not sure, but I think Brian here uses that one too and hopefully he will see this. He does a great job using Pro-mix.

Nancy I've been using Pro Mix for many years and have not lost a tree in that mix yet . Straight pro mix no additives. My larger tree's love it no problem watering or fertilizing . I watch my watering with the smaller tree's as they drink much less . So I would suggest if your going to give it a try I would try it on one of your larger trees first .

Thanks to both of you Brian and Mike. It's my largest trees that I need to repot Brian so that works out great. My largest are only 20 gal though. May experiment a bit and do one straight Pro-mix and one with a bit of a mix for starters. But haven't even seen Pro-mix yet. It is the BX that you both use, not the other ones right?

I think I remember that Vlad uses it too. Or maybe tried it Vlad? Really excited to try it.

Brian- you're using the Pro-mix straight on container trees right? And it drains nicely too? How frequently do you need to change it out?

Hi Nancy I only use the Pro Mix nothing else . It drains very nicely just remember to drill lot's of holes at the bottom of the pot. I also do not place broken clay pots or rocks inside the bottom of the pot . Nancy I only change it out when the tree's need a repot into a larger pot which is usually 2 to 3 yrs . I hope that it works out for you .

I happen to love this mix straight out of the bag. It's beginning to be my first choice over home made mixes since I even have smaller trees doing well in it. Nothing addd. I find it's wel draining enough and dried to fast if you add something like even more perlite to it.

Brian, you certainly know how to grow well, even the smallest of trees0))) Snow last night and now they are saying FRIGID at the beginning of next week. Yuk buddy. Europe is basking in temperatures un heard of, way higher than they should be at this time of the year. As if they are getting our weather, our spring now buddy. What's going on with that picture? Hi Mikey the spring weather forecast has been very consistent dry and normal to above normal temperatures so looking forward to that my friend. March 1st is meteorological Spring definitely going to toast that one in tomorrow. Mikey so glad the pro mix has worked out for you and that its worked out for your smaller tree's. Mikey I don't know what it is but I always seem to pot up my small tree's in pots that are much larger than they need to be in so I have to watch how I water . I am so over protective of my new smaller tree's its ridiculous lol I don't understand I never lost one . Once they hit between 2 to 3 ft in size the worry is over . Thanks Mike and Brian. You two are people I listen to very carefully always so I'll repot a couple of trees in straight Pro-mix. Picking it up tomorrow and as I say can't wait to dig my hands into it.
